Rosso-6MW150D sealed enclosure size

If I tried flush mounting the drivers I know I’ll definitely mess up the enclosure would a 2nd piece of wood same thickness as the basket thickness help I’d have to do the tweeter and the midrange drivers I think the width of the baffle is 408mm wide hole speaker baffle is 777mm or 813mm long inc top and bottom pieces I think the basket thickness is like 3-4mm wave guide is thicker by a little bit more

This is what I did. I used .25" (6 mm) board on top of the 19mm baffle to flush mount mine.

Rick what woofer are you using?

I have also been looking at the Rosso 6MW150d as a mid woofer in a 3 way. I think one of the things you get using a pro driver like this over e.g. a SB Satori MW19P is power handling.
I was planning to crossover at around 1.5 kHz to get a more "linear" transition with regards to directivity. If you cross over the Rosso too high it will have higher directivity than the tweeter which will give a step in the power response, and thereby also in the in room response. So has been trying to find a dome tweeter which will have enough Xmax to follow the Rosso in a 6.5 inch waveguide like the WG300. The peerless ring dome is excellent in either WG148 or WG300, but I would be afraid the it will not really be able to follow the Rosso. Another option would be a compression driver, in a shallow horn.

And as has been pointed out not universal filter will work .... there is no such thing 😉
Another option would be to go active with a DSP as cross over

The Rosso is a super interesting driver. Does anyone have good measurements of it??

I can’t afford a 2 ch dsp amplifier per band pass
Would my tweeter be ok crossing over @ 1.5k it’s a bit lower I have a xt25bg60 with a wg148

Can any recommend a better crossover I know it won’t be 100% the best thing to use but must be better then what I’m using atm

Or

Would anyone have a crossover plan to suit these drivers so I could build a set I’ve tried using software to design a crossover bit it was impossible even pre design crossovers and modified still would not show a proper FR on the graph

Cheers Ricky

I have some measurements of it. Will have to look for it. At work right now. When I get home I will see if I can post it.

Looking at getting a usb calibrated mic with the calibration file there are 2 mics I’m looking at
1st is the Dayton audio Umm6
2nd is the mini dsp Umuk1 can’t afford umik2

Umik1 is $40-50 AUD more than the umm6
Idk what to get but I definitely want to stay under $200 AUD

What do you all recommend for a usb calibrated mic with cal file

I could go XLR but I don’t really want to spend more on a high end sound card

@profiguy I used a imm6 I had already and found out that there was a massive peak at around 1khz and dips off from 2khz to about 8khz do I used all 8 bands of my nx3000d eq from 1khz up to 12khz to adjust the harshness of it and I’m quite happy with it I’m still going to buy the umm6 and a 31 band eq to use and I won’t use the eq on the amplifier only the crossover hpf from 60hz snd up to 16khz also I found out these are really directional tweeters and midrange to I lifted the floorstanding speaker up on to a chair and it also improved the all round sound it was a little high the midrange speaker was just higher then the ear level so I moved my head level between the midrange and tweeter so far I’m liking this speaker

What do you think of this 31 band eq / dsp it looks ok they are getting more notice this year I was looking at them on Alibaba last year

It’s adjustable on both channels on the software but it’s only 1u instead of the normal 2u dual display

https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNU50UO

I can get one for around $250-260 aud inc shipping

What do you think of this eq it has 16 programable presets and a freq acoustic dsp modes along with a dual 31 band eq

Cheers Ricky

@analogkid455 The HD measurements look close to what I've been seeing, but they're a bit elevated compared to what I remember. I didn't observe anything above 1% across the board with just under 100 dB/1m.

FR wise, there is a peak around 4k and 7k. They both can be dealt with just a simple series LCR per peak. The upper peak comes from inside the junction between the dust cap edge and cone. It requires some PVA dampening to get rid of it mechanically or another small LCR. Its a pretty sharp peak and is audible even when crossing under the first peak with a 2nd order filter. The reason its so intrusive is being more pronounced off axis. The use of an inverted dust cap wasn't a good choice by SB. That's really the only noteworthy drawback of this driver.

A good tweeter to pair with this SB midbass is the SB29RDNC ring radiator. It has a similar acoustic personality and capable sensitivity to pair with the SB midbass. It can cross relatively low, but I recommend no lower than 2.5k 2nd order. Another alternative is the Audax TW034. This is another favorite tweeter of mine and easily crosses 2k 2nd order. It sounds surprisingly airy and open for a larger dome, likely due to the wide banded breakup above 10k. It does present acoustic music very naturally and harmonically in tact. Main drawback is its size. It makes up for that with high efficiency and works very well in a WG.

As for the low buck DSP from Ali, I'd be cautious trusting such a device from a hifi perspective. I've been through the typical budget DSP solutions like Behringer. They all fall short of anything which truly can deliver high resolution audio. Yes, they have a following with the modding crowd, but by the time you invest the money and patience trying to make them perform well enough, you could have purchased something better and more suitable out of the box.

Thanks for the info, profiguy. I am using mine with a RST28F. Crossover is a 2nd order at 2khz. I didn't notch the peaks but maybe I will and see if the difference is noticable to me.
