FINALLY, getting Mission 737R just for the woofers, why?

Ok. I'm not able to connect anything right now to check the tweeters, but I have said they stopped working a while ago.

Would I consider a different tweeter? The can of worms will be opening down that route. So no

The original seas h211 is my only option. I want the Mission 770 mk2 sound, with the very minimal of changes made.

Progress is being made.
1 refresh cab, suggestion made. Check
2 internal wiring and crossover. Check
3 tweeters need replacing. Check
4 question, will an original tweeter be up to spec after all these years? That is what I'm asking you right now? The answer decides the road to recovery.

I am listening to you. what I can do right now is limited. I will have a good think over tonight. preparation for cab will begin in the morning. .

will an original tweeter be up to spec after all these years?

Looking at the pair of H211 currently available on ebay, I am thinking that "working order" is an extremely vague description!

I've had a tweeter pair that could be described as in "working order", but which individually didn't match in sound pressure level.

Buy second hand tweeters with caution.

When I read threads on the 770's original one's you hear people saying that the company kept on changing the sound ever so slightly so some were bettered by others. Funny story my mate came over to mine, I told him about these vintage speakers I just got and how amazing thay were. He also had just bought a brand new stereo Rotel Pre/Power amps BW speakers very nice. After he heard mine totally gobsmacked by the extension and depth of the bass he went and bought a subwoofer

I've found this image of the original Mission 770 crossovers that was supplied by member slipmyster.

The tan coloured single capacitor at the top is a film type which does not degrade over time.

If your capacitor looks like this there's no need to replace it, but you may be tempted to upgrade it.
I had a quick look inside and Hurray!! I have the exact same tan capacitors.

You haven't said if the tweeters are actually producing sound. If not, replacing the ferrofluid is unlikely to coax them back to life.

Would you be interested in substitute tweeters? If so, please measure the faceplate diameter of your current tweeters.

I believe the original SEAS 25 mm dome tweeters were 6 ohm and we may be able to locate an alternative that suits your budget.
So I've had a long good thinck over the tweeters, I will take your advice and ask you if possible recommend tweeters that I can use without messing or changing the crossover.

You asked for the diameter size of the faceplate? Of current tweeter as is fitted yes? It is 105mm.

6 ohm, 25 mm dome, 104 mm tweeters are not that plentiful!

This is a possible budget replacement: https://willys-hifi.com/collections/dome-tweeters/products/sb-acoustics-sb26st-c000-5-tweeter
It matches the previously mentioned SEAS replacement well in key areas such as dc resistance, resonance frequency, crossover frequency and SPL, but has a slightly smaller diameter of 100 mm which could be accommodated. At ~£24 each it may be worth taking a punt - better than having non-working tweeters anyway!

Here's another possibility (104 mm; 6 ohm impedance), costing ~£34: https://www.falconacoustics.co.uk/vifa-d27tg3506-tweeter.html

Obviously, I can give no guarantee as to the absolute suitability of these possible replacements. The decision is entirely up to you!

Im receiving the 737r later on I will show you them. I can try to raise funds using the tweeters from them. Today I will check of anything comes out of the 770 tweeters. This will give extra options I thinck.
Thanks for your input it's well appreciated Galu

I was reading something somewhere that baffle's that are stepped in like the original 770's and other speakers alike on low volumes hi frequency resonance due to the outer rim? The new 770 baffle is flush, should I be concerned? Maybe get some lengths of quadrant to curve the outer rim?

should I be concerned?

I use vintage speakers with stepped in baffles which causes me no concern. I am too busy listening to the music!

Even if the slightly protruding cabinet edges were to produce measurable diffraction effects, the audible effect would be subtle and, to my mind, would only add to the vintage sound of the speakers.

Could there be the possibility of trying the 737R tweeters in your 770 enclosures?

When I get them later on gonna have a quick listen. Regarding the standing waves about the tweeter, just me waffling on, I've been trying to find and then buy something suitable to fit the 770's it's been so long I'm really excited!

Tweeters are bothering me. I'm gonna take a punt on a pair of speakers that have H211 tweeters that work.
Look a the size difference! Thay pack a punch and sound quite nice. .
