Guitar box with Fostex FE206En driver

Reading the forums (fora...!) it occurs to me to name two branches of hi-fi: car audio and HT. In professional, the usage of balanced signal transmission.
Also multimedia is a 'new' branch...then there are headphones.
See how many compartments are created and targeted to the specialized user

RTFM'ing for a moment, the Fostex does appear to touch 100dB sensitivity in the upper mids, so I guess with a low wattage practice amp that shouldn't burn out the coil, or am I missing something?

Probably the main limit at first glance is that if you don't want the Fostex to distort, just the amp, then it should probably use a small sealed box, not open backed.

Why not build a test box and see how it sounds? 10 litres would be my ball-park first guess without peering into sim software. Or you could build something a bit bigger, like 40 litres, and then fill it with water bottles until you get the desired tone balancing overdrive vs clean bass.

FE206EN in a Karlson K8 is just beautiful on recordings of acoustic guitar - cabinet about 1 cubic foot external bulk - tune ~95Hz - all my guitar (Traynor tube top) ps are at my house which I've not been to to play since Nov. 2019 and health collapse from an allergic reaction which put me on a ventilator. for 9 days and in that hospital stay for a month. I lost my vocal chords from the trach operation. My house got overrun by mice . etc. Thieves later got my TV's - most guitars, - pc part box which included NOS Hurst and AR motors for my turntables - hope my income which dropped 2/3 comes back enough to pay taxes or will lose all income.

Compared to equivalent guitar 8"
97 dB for Fostex seems pretty decent.
Xmax for guitar be less or about the same.
So yes it could very well outperform a guitar 8"

Far as I would see the Fostex are usually low Qts
So likely sound better in a sealed box.

The open back combo thing is very traditional.
Even in the guitar world, most my guitarist switched
up to a close back 2x12 or mostly 4x12 for live stuff.
Depends on the band.

And actually far as form factor. Could just use typical
Fender Bassman style 2x12. Which are sealed back.
And be nice baffle size to run 2x8"
Ironically the volume is probably pretty close to what
a sealed alignment is for the Fostex

If too big then use a typical 1x12" sized cabinet
And make it sealed back. with 1x8" instead

Good to know.

So its actually smaller than I assumed that is good actually.

My brain went backwards there for a minute being so use to
high Qts speakers.

If Qts is .19 then its friendly to small boxes.

Use to high sensitivity speakers with high Qts
More often than not Open Back speakers likely be High Qts.
Or if sealed the volume likely be large.

Goes the other way, smaller enclosure for these guys.
ok I see why the Fostex is popular for horn loading too.
Knew they were low Qts but .19 impressive
