Yeah, I went to college with Tom at the University of Illinois. He's at Apple now.
I still have one of those receivers, too. It works perfectly.
I suspect the headphone jack or the impedance switch.
Either could kill the sound if everything is not right.

Me too, although I haven't plugged it in in awhile. It was checked out by our tech when I worked at Goodwin's, but that was like 14 years ago!!!! My memory of the unit is it sounded quite nice, played a lot bigger than 15 watts and had a very nice phono stage.

It might need the open frame switches and pots cleaned, but it should be ok.
He sold the THX stuff back when, probably better than Apt.
