Had a look at my profile just now. It said Joined 2002-06-04 1:49 pm. I know it was something like that, but, yowsers! Not so active with audio nowadays. Tinnitus and 7.9kHz max. Had lots of fun learning about measuring speaker parameters, building the 50W choke loaded source follower class A amp, and various circlotrons (who would have guessed???) especially the tetrahedron amp. https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/tetrahedron-output-stage-topology.10658/ All good fun.
Time flies when you’re having fun. I’m also from the older crowd (May 2001...). What an amazing forum!
Jason was the first member and the only still active member is member 4 IIRC. Can’t remember who that is just now. Perhaps they will pop in.
indeed, this site gave me a treasure trove of learnings, i went thru the university but did not get as much as i got here...Time flies when you’re having fun. I’m also from the older crowd (May 2001...). What an amazing forum!
Jason, the site owner, who else, imet him in Manila in an audio show sometime in early 2010's, an Aussie guy and quite young too...Who is the first member? Story behind?
Jason was the one who stood up for software upgrades to include the "like" button, if you are happy with the "like" button, you can blame it all on Jason.....😎😀Cheers to Jason and this great community! Long may it continue.
Joined in 2002, still working in audio as a hobby. Just last evening upgraded an Aqua dac with new WBT rca connectors and Furutech Ac inlet for a friend…

18 years and 6 days here.A mere 19.5 years for me.
For the next trivia question, how many tubes or semiconductors have we blown up in all of those years. Despite my user name I have blown up far more silicon, GaAs, GaN and SiC than vacuum tubes and got paid for doing some of it.
Looks like 16 plus years for me. I was mostly at the asylum before finding some Altec 1570 thread here.
@Circlotron Im 27 , when I was in high school I used to hear up to 19. something, now 17khz, I always tought when I get older how high can I hear , its besides the point, What I really always tought, Will music "sound the same" when I get older and can only hear up to 10k for example, Would it sound like something is missing, or I miss the highs ? . or it will sound just like its sounds now, because our hearing loss is slowly and not abrupt, like today I can hear up to 17k and tomorrow only 12k so I will notice the difference.
About 20.5 for me. I haven't actually blown up much stuff. I do remember a 79L05, the 100mA variety, going up in smoke spectacularly quickly (always check those reg pinouts)!
Holy smokes!
I've been here 20 years too!
I was addicted to all things audio. I requested for my account to be disabled, so I could focus on my University studies!!!
When I asked for it to be re-enabled years later, it couldn't, hence a new (current) handle.
What is the state of DIYA activity 2 decades on?
Do we have any data on it? More members/posts? Less?
According to my kids, everyone's on YouTube or Discord these days...
