The big Western Electric horn system sounded "big", impressive but quite colored as can be expected.
These Silbatone guys spend big money to ship the stuff to Munich each year to impress, but it has nothing to do with High Fidelity.
These were for PA, mostly cinema.

Hey daanve
I thought it was great to have the Silbatone room next to the Nagra- Wilson room.
Two worlds collided
One is full with Swiss precision (nagra) and scan speak drivers incased in vollkern cabinet (called x material) of the Wilson brand.
Multi million state of the art system.. I get to read on them all the time and expecting a lot!
The other room with 97 years old half falling apart Victrola loudspeaker- above 105db efficiency (115db?) And low watt amps
I did the trip from one room to the other several times. And for me the old grandpa of speakers was on another level.
There is a certain hifi , high end sound that I encounter many times at shows like this, it is a contained, precise sound. Like everything comes in nice little boxes.
Give me the raw, visceral (colored) sound ( life) every day please, sound of orchestra will shred ones hearing.
Ps.1 Stenheim of Swiss seems to combine both worlds nicely using PA drivers in aluminum cabinets, great sound from them too.
Ps.2 Göbel of Germany, Lorenzo audio from Spain and many many others are using PA drivers, all of them top notch speakers 😀

Nagra and Wilson - has nothing to do with High End in terms of sound but in terms of parts quantity;-)
Two days walking around the show.....made me feel rather depressed.
It seems to be most important to "impress". Prices sky high and most gear not affordable for people with average income.
How come that good old brands like Kef and B&W were not there?? What does it say??

I concur. I was in the same room last year and all I got was hearing damage from them blasting ac/dc at a measured 90-95dB. I found all rooms using Wilson speakers fatiguing, although some much more so than others. I made a note to myself to avoid all rooms using Wilsons or speakers based on accuton drivers. I don’t actually mind the sound of the latter, but they all sound about the same and are low-ish efficiency, means boring.Nagra and Wilson - has nothing to do with High End in terms of sound but in terms of parts quantity;-)
Well, I totally get that, I really ask my self where the hell are the costumers of such products, I mean, who heard of such an exotics companies? Two days walking around the show.....made me feel rather depressed.
Kaiser Audio from Germany for example is a carpentery making all sort of stuff and of course speakers on demand. Tune Audio designer is also a carpenter. So many diyer and simple passionate geniuses behind the fancy suits!
That's what I actually really like about München, you can really get in a conversation with those guys and learn a lot.
I stumbeld on the room of von schweikert- accuton based speakers and it was a pleasant surprise, weird, I haven't expected thatWilsons or speakers based on accuton drivers.
The organiser of high end munich is probably the only guaranteed winner. I wonder what they do with their presumably significant profits. Who is actually behind them?
I like von schweikert, unsurprisingly so since my mains are still their old VR-1 bookshelfs. But I had the impression that they sank back into the waves after Albert’s passing. I have never heard their accuton-based speakers and I am surprised that they made it to Munich, have they resumed working with distributors? I vaguely remember them switching to direct distribution a while ago?!I stumbeld on the room of von schweikert- accuton based speakers and it was a pleasant surprise, weird, I haven't expected that
It was the first time that I heard them, great soundstage an no ceramics flavor. Hefty price tag though, like everything elseI like von schweikert
