Current OPT makers

Ok, so now that Transcendar and Electra-print are gone what are our alternatives? I’ve had ok units from Edcor, really good units from Hayboer. Surprisingly good units from HiFi Equis out of China. Who else is still in the game?

I've had good results using Primary Winding OPT's on several of my amp build's, OPT's are about £70 - £100 each which is good value for those of us who haven't a lot of cash to spend. I've had a close look at his work, they are well constructed, with, I think good interleaving, reasonably stacked laminations & are varnish impregnated. They have a decent primary inductance & high frequency response. There's about a two week lead time. Be careful when ordering to fill in the ordering form with what you want, EG 8r or 4,6.16 secondary's etc.

Hope that helps those shopping for OPT's, here in the UK our options have narrowed cost wise due to us leaving the EU, Andy.

Welter may have thrown in the towel, but Audioröhrentechnik seems to be very much alive. The website shows lots of transformers and chokes of all kinds. The only drawback is that they don’t accept orders for custom transformers at present. As is explained on the ”Katalog” page no prices are shown as they have to be calculated on a daily basis due to the difficult times we are going through. Worth noting is also that Audioröhrentechnik manufactures tube sockets for a number of tubes that are difficult to source sockets for.
