question about speaker sensitivity

Hello to all. Lookit this is probably a stupid question from most definitely a stupid person, in this realm I am dumb as bricks.

I have a pair of woofers that are 90db at 1 watt per meter.

I have tweeters that are 95db and the tweeters are too loud, I have no way to decrease the volume output of the tweeters.

Can I volume match the tweeters and the woofers using the paramerter - Sensitivity? I dont need perfection, I need roundabouts good.

Hoping for a passive way to match the two.

Right now I'm looking at thise Morel MDT 12 tweeters, and thinking they might be a good match for my woofers

The woofers Im using are Beyma BF-8R

As I said Im dumb, I failed math in high school, talk to me as you would a child that cannot add - please.

I was hesitant to go into detail, i wanted to keep it simple, but here we go.

The speakers are in this housing. This empty housing has been re-enforced with fibreglass, the case is much heavier now and doesnt vibrate so much when the bass hits.

I'm using a wondom Jab5 amplifier, but i can't figure out the software on the damn thing, that would allow me to lower the volume to the tweeters.

So im trying to sort it out passively. I can set the crossover point using this board, but I cannot reduce the volume of the tweeters in relation to the woofers.

In the box right now, are two Monacor DT-28N dome tweeters, and they sound lovely, really nice, but they are too loud and the woofers are too quiet.

The woofers in the box are the Beyma's mentioned above

So I was hoping the Morel tweeters with a lower sensitivity might fix my volume problem..... will it?

I have the Monacor 95db tweeter fitted to the box right now

I am looking for a replacement that will be a better fit, and I am hoping maybe the Morel 89.5db would be a better match for my Beyma 90db woofers.

I'll look into the resistor. I do have a soldering iron, because it certainly will be a cheaper option.

And thanks guys for the replies! very much appreciated.

A packaged adjustable L-pad will let you dial in whatever volume level you want on the tweeter.

This one is out of stock, so it is just an idea of what they are. This is a stereo version, so one like this would handle both tweeters.

It looks like your amp module has ports for external potentiometers to set the volume (gain) of some of the amp channels. In your image it looks like you have those hooked up. Have you tried that approach?

If I'm reading this correctly, if the tweeters are on J13, Pot1 should adjust their gain.

talk to me as you would a child that cannot add - please.

If you stick to your present Monacor 95 dB tweeter, you can lower its sensitivity by 5 dB by wiring a 3.3 ohm resistor (R1) in series with the tweeter and a 10.0 ohm resistor (R2) in parallel with the tweeter, as shown in the attachment.

The resistors should be 5 W or 10 W ceramic wire-wound types.

This will produce better results than wiring a single 6.8 ohm resistor in series with the tweeter, although that is an alternative.

Woo! Thank you @Galu, thank you thankyou.
Thats exacly what I was looking for. I can solder it, but I'm not capable of working out the values. So thanks!!!

@mattstat yeah, appreciate you writing that man, but try as I might I cannot seem to get the pots to affect the tweeter level.
I stared at the diagrams over and over, I redrew the diagrams, i did my best to try and get it working multiple times but I was not able.

Now, before I sound all doom and gloom, I should say that the radio already sounds epic, like really really nice, just too much treble is all.

I really love the Monacor tweeters, and I'm really happy that I can keep them, cos I think they are gems
and I love the way they sound.
