reggae music

Buffalo Soldier is a very unfortunately titled song since the Buffalo soldier regiments were formed after the end of the Civil War specifically to help in the genocide of the indigenous population. The name was given to them by the Native Americans due to the similarity they found with their hair and that of buffaloes.
Get Up Stand Up was co-written by Tosh and Marley.

When I drove taxi, many a time someone would jump in and go, "woo reggae music, play buffalo soldier" 🤦‍♂️
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Folks like John Holt shifted the musics focus to women and good fun things, and it's now what reggae lyrics is all about. But with a lot of women also taking charge and singing about spanking the boys

I think Jamaicans are doing just fine selling reggae to the world without turning it into rock. Bob Marley was not the only exposure. Plenty of Jamaican DJs in the international markets ran discos

One thing though, if the music in a song cant hold its own as a dub, then I just find it boring on my regular playlists. Listen, hmmmm, forget....

There are so many little things in life to celebrate. Most of the divides are well sorted now. Time for politics in reggae is over, unless it's about returning the Kohinoor :)

Reggae is a gorgeous music with instruments at non-aggressive settings. This is about as confrontational as it can get in most places these days :D

Lol
Or this :D

I met and fall in love with this young gyal in 2011. Her very Indian parents didn't agree when I asked for her hand, and we eloped to and got married. I got lured into their compound under the pretence of let's talk and was set on by their sugarcane gang and carried off in an ambulance

Us 11 years later and still together and things came good with her family when i moved to the island and just forced my way into being part of the family :D
