IIRC that barge capacity was 15,000 tonnes.
Only the steel hull had any value, the suoerstructure was old wood with probably no value.
There are no drives on the barge. These are just great big ocean trailers. They haul wood chips.
Sorry we are getting away from cranes. My bad.

I totally forgot those important big details 🤣IIRC that barge capacity was 15,000 tonnes.

I would guess it would be a gantry type and probably dates back a couple millennia, perhaps more. How old is the invention of the crane?
Visiting in Bermuda with our daughter - a semi-annual thing these days - and it’s worse with the scooters.I have not counted how many times I was nearly taken out on my street bike by people on their phone. But its more than a few. 🙁
Perhaps the biggest crane failure...cranes worldwide are working hard, but nobody notices unless they collapse, in spectacular fashion.
"Big Blue", a monster crane moving an 11.000 square foot, 500 ton pre-made roof section for a Milwaukie sports arena...Ironically, a safety inspector was on-hand to record & document the lift.

A guy I knew used to taxi a plane over there. The point was I seen some far worse places than here. The busy roads are like a symphony of chaos in places like Vietnam. Surprisingly there is far fewer accidents than you would think would happen.Visiting in Bermuda with our daughter - a semi-annual thing these days - and it’s worse with the scooters.
I was looking up what the counter weights weight, not knowing it collapsed.Yes Big Blue got a lot of coverage.
233-foot, 4,600-ton
Crane can lift more than 2.3 million pounds 😵
I didn't find gross weight for the counter balance.
I'm going OT for a second, because that'sa big excavator. I'm pretty sure not the biggest.

Largest mobile excavator (Caterpillar 6090j is one thing, but open pit mining scoopers is a whole ‘nother story.
Bagger 293 still the champ, I think?

Liebherr the manufacturer of that crane also made my domestic fridge.Crane weekly states Canada has the worlds largest mobile crane https://www.heavyliftnews.com/worlds-largest-mobile-crane-lifts-girder-with-modulift-beam/#:~:text=A Modulift spreader beam was, maximum 18m (59 ft.)
I'm merely a messenger here, and not calling anyone out 🤔
The fridges in Germany are about equal the size of the freezer section alone, in the average size fridges here.
Liebherr will sell you fridges, freezers and wine coolers in any size you like from table height fridges via twin and triple door full-height American style ones, ones for commercial and laboratory use of any size to deep-freeze and refrigeration systems for industrial warehouses.
Yes Chris, the bucket wheel excavators are truly something else. That pic you have, a famous pic by the way, really puts it into perspective. It's so big, the entire town comes out to watch it get moved. They have to bring picnic baskets as it takes about a day to get across the road.
You want to see the hole it helps digging!
They use 4 or 5 of those excavators digging to a depth of 500m with a surface of 84 square kilometers. When they stop digging in 2035 half of it will be filled in and the other half will become Germany's 2nd largest lake behind Lake Constance. It will take 60 years to fill with water.
