Isn't exactly this the algorithm how the music industry works? Give it massive airplay and tell the big thick mass market through as much media as possible what they need to hear, and you will sell, sell, sell.I remember travelling with my family back in 1968 when "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" came out - we must have heard that track on our car radio every 15 minutes, or at least it seemed that way.
Best regards!
We have no idea how good Burt Bacharach and Hal David were:
But certainly a successful duo:
Wives and Lovers certainly worked for me. My own octave.
RIP, Burt,

Apparently not. You clearly have no clue.Isn't exactly this the algorithm how the music industry works? Give it massive airplay and tell the big thick mass market through as much media as possible what they need to hear, and you will sell, sell, sell.

You could easily claim such about many of his tunes"Walk on by" best song ever written.
I ended up not buying every song I liked that got a lot of airplay.Isn't exactly this the algorithm how the music industry works? Give it massive airplay and tell the big thick mass market through as much media as possible what they need to hear, and you will sell, sell, sell.

Especially the ones which got airplay before the official release because by the time I could buy it I was already sick of it.
I agree, but "walk on by" is a little above the rest of his greats. You could easily claim such about many of his tunes
The Strangler did an interesting version: Stranglers walk on by
I'd love to hear Alison Mosshart and The Kills or The Dead Weather do it.I agree, but "walk on by" is a little above the rest of his greats.

The only Bacharach I have are by Dion Warwick and himself.I ended up not buying every song I liked that got a lot of airplay.

Some Tom Jones also. I still listen to Warwick, his premeire collaborator. I love that kink in her voice.
I played my LPs of "Burt Bacharach's Greatest Hits" and "Burt Bacharach and Friends". Every song is familiar to people my age. 🙂

A 100 years from now, Burt Bacharach will rank with the likes of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and Rodgers and Hammerstein.
