My parents gave me a portable AM radio when I was about 10. I found a connection that made it into a variable oscillator.
And the game was a foot......
You're a little bit older than me... I started with a Panasonic solid state AM/FM that had a scratchy volume pot. Fixed it....
But then the Z80 came out... so my foot went digital, not linear.
BTW, I fell into physics because I wanted to learn that stuff about ohms, volts, amps, watts.... it was intriguing.
