We got about 5-8 inches of snow by yesterday afternoon (40 miles north of Seattle). Temp was 12F here this morning. With the humidity and the rain/snow mix the day before, the doors on my Tacoma were frozen shut. I hooked up a little heater and covered with a tarp tent for a couple of hours and got the driver's door open. Ran the engine and heater for 20-30 minutes and the remaining doors opened fairly easily. I applied a light coat of silicone spray to the door seals. Hopefully tomorrow won't be a repeat. 😉
Meanwhile, my brother lives in north central Montana. He had -30F this morning, with strong winds which made wind chill down around -50F. 😯 I can remember -30F and beyond when I was a kid there, but usually no wind with it. Good day to be inside!

I switched from Blizzak snow tires to Hankook this year. Blizzak were hard to get at our location. We routinely travel 450 miles on Interstate-80 through the hilly regions of Pennsylvania, and as soon as you see the temperature drop to 32F it's trouble!
Expected blizzard conditions in the Northcoast states starting Friday.

More snow on the way this evening. That's on top of the 40cm still on the ground. -13º right now at 7am. This is more like Canada weather than us.

It was about the same in Denver. Yesterday afternoon when my son came home from school it was mid 40’s and sunny. Less than an hour later was low teens taking him to swimming. Single digits when we left.
24F forecasted for Friday night here coastal FL panhandle (teens inland)…….garden is done now! 😕

I lost the weather stripping on the passenger side door of my old car many years ago. My roommate ripped it right off opening the door. 🙁

Silicone worked nicely! I applied to the front doors, which opened easily this morning. I left it off both back doors, and they were stuck.I applied a light coat of silicone spray to the door seals. Hopefully tomorrow won't be a repeat.
I'll have to remember to do that before serious freezing next time. 😉

Petroleum jelly works well and might last as long or longer than silicone spray. Less overshoot too. And yes Dave, always important to do it the night before. Usually you only have to apply it once a year.
I like petroleum jelly for covering the odd rust spot to prevent it from getting worse before spring when you'd fix it properly but I prefer lithium grease for door jam seals (yes I know it says "metal to metal" but it works)...
OTOH, so does any good silicone based sexual lubricant - and you might already have some anyway...

That's a bit messy isn't it? Don't think i'll try that.Lithium grease for door jam seals...

You spray it and wipe off the excess with a towel... it just needs a thin film.
It also depends on if the seals are rubber or foam I think. I've seem melted seals because someone thought using oil would be a good idea.

Index finger and 'baby rash cure' keep it simple, inexpensive, long lasting and clean. If you can put it on your baby's tender spots, it won't hurt your seals.

"Now let me see . . . what was I going to the garage for?"
🤔
You are right the UK news are reporting it as a bomb-cyclone. It sounds like one of our beasts from the east but American style bigger and better just like everything else American is tornadoes and all.I heard that the Great Lakes are getting a 'bomb-cyclone' storm for Christmas
We have had a cold spell but we are not out of the woods yet as we have still got January to go.
It didn't even get cold enough to get rid of the slugs in the garden last winter. They were revolting.
