Yes, but I think just a thick flat plate should do it. The mounting side of the devices have no pins. TO-3 devices would be a problem. Then a T-bar could be a solution.
Thanks, Gianluca. Have placed the order for the first of my three. It’s for a friend and going to his forwarder in Miami.
I’d like to ask your advice, Gianluca, and the advice of any Canadians on the thread with regard to the two other chassis. I have family in Canada coming to Barbados at Christmas and am going to ship my two chassis to them in Ontario.
Is it better to ship each of the two chassis separately - in terms of any possibility of coming in under a customs duty ceiling, or do I ship the two together at an obviously higher total cost on one invoice? The shipping charge difference between either option is €6.
I am pretty sure US/AU customs start raising an eyebrow if the value of the invoice is 1000+ USD/AUD while Canada usually charges duties for any amount but I would still ship them separately if the value is over 1000 CAD
I’m an impulsive hoarding flip/flopper…curse you Modushop! 🤪 Order placed.
You can always tell the wife it was an early Christmas present! 😆
Jokes aside, thank you for your purchase
Yes, yes.......listening!
I am looking at the speciel Mono block chassis with heat sinks on both sides! ......only way to dissipate the nearly 200W to use both sides for one channel.
But before I order I have to ask Gianluca to cut 4 x 10mm alu plates so I can connect the two heat sinks on both sides thermically as there is only one Mosfet or SIT pr. side. Hope this is possible?
You are very lucky with the VFET chassis that heat sinks are ONE piece only!!!
I am all with you here, I would definitely go for 400mm long heatsinks for all our chassis as I am sure it would be very convenient for a lot of people. Main problem is they are a lot more expensive than 2x 200mm and it's quite hard to find them (at least our usual supplier does not sell a lot).
If you can think of any solution which can help you I am happy to assist

thick flat plate is much better than thick L or T
it leaves you with more space in case........ and there is no weak link of angle transition

Would it be possible to order with 400mm heatsinks and just pay what it costs?
That would be the very best solution.
If possible, how do I order two of these mono blocks with 2x 400mm heatsinks on each chassis?
when you get that info from Gianluca, compare it(s cost) vs. regular option with additional heatspreader plates
in general, having a side comprised of two 200mm deep heatsinks isn't a problem in majority of scenarios, with 2 or more output parts; problem is only when you need to mount just one fat OS part on side

.......but delta-price from 2 to 4 heat sinks is 30 Euros only.......that is not much.......
So if two 200 mm heat sinks are 30 Euros and a 400mm is much more expensive it is probably not more than double up? 🙂
We will see.....

damn, all roads are leading to Rome ...... again .......

(btw. gotta today my two ordered preamp cases and three buttons and 2 base plates; ZM happy camper)

Yes, and I have to decide "white" or "black" front. I might like black most, but scratches are not that visible on white and can be "repaired" just with sanding.
The white is a bit of a "Panda-look". Do I like Pandas?

They always do 😀 And glad you already got all your stuff 🙂
Regarding the heatsinks unfortunately it's not that easy as it would require us to substain set up costs to have our supplier produce a certain minimum quantity plus the extra cost to make. If we had had the possiblity to make these in a convenient way we would have done it years ago but that's how it is.

OK, but to specify 10 mm think alu plates of like say 150mm x 350mm (four of these) is possible?
They have to fit inside, and I have not looked in detail how much space we have. Maybe it is 120 x 350 or 120 x 300.
But that would be possible?
Maybe you have a suggestion what is possible regarding max. size?

dunno if it's already late, but talk about monoblock cases ....... best to have in Monoblock cases thread ?
@MEPER
You could follow my strategy…as stated earlier…by one of everything and hoard in your basement, shed, closet, dog house, bomb shelter etc
Some express concern that there is no way I will ever have enough time to build it all.
What they don’t know is I plan on having a Viking burial and taking it all with me to Valhalla.
Odin will be pleased to have a bitchin new system to party to!

With courier shipment, the courier company use their own customs broker to clear the package through Canada Customs unless you tell them that you are using your own customs broker or that you are doing it yourself. I don't know whether duties are applicable but definitely taxes (13% HST in Ontario) will be levied by Canada Customs based on the value of the goods. The courier company will also charge a brokerage fee if they clear customs for you, unless the brokerage cost is included in the courier's shipping price.
Taxes and duties apply to imported goods valued over CAN$20. As I mentioned, taxes will definitely be charged. I have no idea what the rules are for import duties when purchasing from Italy but when I purchased some heatsinks from modu, I did not have to pay any duty.
So in the matter of one or two shipments, if customs brokerage is not included in the courier's shipping price, you would pay their brokerage fee once for one shipment and twice for two shipments.
I placed an order for one chassis.
I use https://go.onlinemetals.com/OTg3LUN...VY_0Ii9_2zFukATbVTjxWmJWbb5ZioTkhbsYPnwgxVf8=
for T and L aluminum extrusions. They will cut stock to custom lengths.

Thanks for the clear explanation, Ben Mah. Appreciated. I placed my order with Gianluca for two separate shipments but I’m sure that he can change that if one shipment is the better way to go. Modushop use FedEx so don’t know what they do re brokerage.
Another thing to watch out for with couriers is that they separate their fees so that their brokerage fee may not include other fees that they charge for various reasons associated with the collection of taxes.
FYI, you can mount THF51 on UMS pattern.
and if you do, do it this way:
