Open Baffle, Dipole, 3-way - how do they sound compared to each other?

I am now settled on a 3-way ported box, not a narrow tower but classic 3 way short and wide box. Before I pull the trigger on the Scanspeak Discovery 3WC MKII kit from TG, is there any other designs of such 3-way ported boxes I should look at (even if this means upping the budget to 3,000 euro)? Reason I ask is, I would prefer do this right now, rather than end up building another system!
I have never heard a Gravesen-designes loudspeaker, but I think that they must be good. Especially the classic 3-ways. Sad that he doesn't publish xo component details any more, insted wants to sell those über expensive Jantzen coils and caps with kits.

Some other sources for good kits in Europe, which i have never listened to either

Due to my wife specifications, I need to fit the speakers under here ( I can raise the TV height somewhat). That is why I want the monkey coffins,

I've nothing against monkey coffins. In commercial speakers the engineering department is often at the mercy of the marketing department and many times upper management couldn't figure a wavelength from the frequency. They usually have about a 1/4 to 1/3rd of the cost of the speaker into building it and even shipping weight and dimensions factor heavily. So, we diy.

thanks, I know it is far from the ideal space, but will certainly tip up the front. It is a very hard surfaced space, wall opposite white wall is bout 8 ft away, the wall opposite the natural stone wall is well over 30 ft away!

Since you love woodworking, build a TV stand that fits the entire corner all the way to the molding, to get the front edge of it as wide as you can, and put the speakers under it on each side with a subwoofer in the middle. I would personally use a sealed 6" 2 way on each side, crossed to a sub in the middle at 80hz or lower. Maybe make the shelf a little longer on the stone wall side and tell the wife it was an accident after? If you can get the face wide enough you may be able to put the satellites on top at the sides of the TV. It will help quite a bit if you can work it out so that the listening height is correct. The sub will get some gain from corner loading it.

Then again, I still build speakers but am no longer married so my advice might not be the best.

🤣🤣 - sorry to hear that and I hope you don't mind that I have seen the funny side of that last statement!!
No need to be sorry, it's been over 15 years and a relief.

I like to do what I want to do when I want to do it and have too many interests to give a serious relationship the time it requires.

Unless you could get her to go for something like this. Doesn't everyone have a couple 12" inch subs hanging from the ceiling to try with different speakers they build?

They'll blend right in, she probably won't even notice.
