US Naval pilots "We see UFO everyday for at least a couple of years"

There is a non-zero chance that she's been taken over by a brain-slug type alien parasite and is controlling the world through a type of mass hypnosis. Or might be some plebeian entertainment fueling plebeian hopes and dreams.
I suspect that it has a lot to do with something which a comedian observed after Bruce Jenner became Kaitlin Jenner. "The party never stops with that family".

This is an understatement. Media tells us what to wear, what to eat, what to think. They constantly reinforce their hegemony with gaudy glamour and vapid yet vulgar personas.

What exactly do the Kardashians do again? I forgot what they're famous for. Did they invent the Pentium chip? Did they broker world peace? What makes them so valuable to society anyway?

And now Hillary and Chelsea Clinton are going to do some kind of reality show with the Kardashians. I crap you negative. I heard it on the TV this morning. This tidbit was on the "news."

So now they're going to solve the world hunger problem, restore democracy to Ukraine, and exorcise fashion faux pas, all in one episode. I can't wait!
I’m very diplomatic. 🙂

powerful impact into the collective psyche
They weren't predicting. They were making a case in strong support of propagandizing what they called 'the masses'. Both books were influential and Bernays is still valorized as the father of modern public relations. Their impact wasn't on common people or psyche, for who to this day they remain unfamiliar. Until recently myself included.

Isn't it fundamentally propaganda though? One issue with it is that it's somewhat culture-specific. The EU is having a hell of a time trying to come up with a common narrative for both the east and the west.

And of-course there's solid arguments for it's overall usefulness for a "healthy" society.

Yes I was referring to it more in a Jungian way.

Carl Jung, on UFOs (1957):
the problem of the Ufos is, as you rightly say, a very fascinating one, but it is as puzzling as it is fascinating; since, in spite of all observations I know of, there is no certainty about their very nature. On the other side, there is an overwhelming material pointing to their legendary or mythological aspect. As a matter of fact the psychological aspect is so impressive, that one almost must regret that the Ufos seem to be real after all. I have followed up the literature as much as possible and it looks to me as if something were seen and even confirmed by radar, but nobody knows exactly what is seen. In consideration of the psychological aspect of the phenomenon I have written a booklet about it, which is soon to appear. It is also in the process of being translated into English. Unfortunately being occupied with other tasks I am unable to meet your proposition. Being rather old, I have to economize my energies.

Yeah, that's Bernays. A statement never made by the propagandee though. To my mind that's the funniest part of Bernays, this unrelenting propagandist for his 'public relations counsel' commercial services. Counsels and their clients he implies are immune while remaining cannily silent about the status of his educated readers. Which if Ellul is correct are the most susceptible of all classes to propaganda.
All a gentle way of suggesting that many who believe themselves immune from propaganda are fine with targeting others. Buyer beware. 🙂

That is just power dynamics. But yes, even "they" have their reality-tunnel which they fight tooth and nail to maintain. Otherwise they'd serve no purpose for "the game". They also have hidden costs associated, a simple example being the sword of Damocles.

In my opinion the first line of defense for every democracy is independent journalism. If you control the media apparatus you can start "tweaking" said democracy. Somehow people in power always have (develop even?) "good" reasons for controlling it.
Really? What makes you think these two agencies are not in cahoots? If they weren't, wouldn't they be at odds with each other? When they 'appear' to be is when the "tweaking" is taking place.

Did you guess who's doing the tweaking? Marshall Mcluhan may shed some light on that.

So I missed the part where the declaration.."UFO!" was sent. In any case, what were they called before they were called UFOs?

Something like..OH oh, flying saucer ahead?

"something is happening but you don't know what it is, do you, Mr. Jones"?

Honestly, big deal!
