Hi, I leave you my restoration project of a Yamaha NS-1000, they have been painted in black Mercedes, the filters have been changed for more current ones, the gaskets of the speakers and potentiometers have been changed, the woofer has been cleaned and dyed black and... this is the result

Wonderful work, well done and thanks for posting. What coating did you use on the bass cone? Did you alter the XO's values at all?
I'm wondering if anyone else has ever seen these depressions on the bass drivers frame, next to the mounting screws, just wondering if they signify anything?
Thanks.

The job of darkening the speaker cone was sent to a professional who has been repairing speakers for 40 years and is a friend of mine 🙂Maravilloso trabajo, bien hecho y gracias por publicar.
Gracias.
He had to clean it 7 times (I think with a special steam machine) to remove all the remains of the passing of the years and that when putting them in black there were no stains.
The speaker tint is special so as not to add mass to the cone and not change the parameters.
Surely the accumulated dirt of 40 years does add mass to the woofer cone

LOL! That must be true 🙂

Beautiful job.
Just one suggestion: your images are *******´LARGE!!!!
Just checked and they are impossible to display 3024 by 4032 pixels, they take long to download but even worse, task CPU with the job of resizing them to fit in any real world screen.
Suggest you downsize them to, say, 1000 by 1600 pixels or so, before uploading.
Our computers are doing that anyway 😉 , but wasting bandwidth, memory and CPU .
To boot, processing a grand total of 20-30 images, or more.
Not sure how many, stopped downloading after a couple minutes.
Any graphics software can resize/resample them to palatable size, I use simple and fast IrfanView.

Thank you so much for the comments 🙂 I had had these speakers many years ago, and when I sold them I always regretted it, so I looked for them again to restore them and not sell them anymore. It is a speaker that sounds all good and you enjoy it, in the end it is the most important thing
Troels Gravesen has a page on his site that details a crossover upgrade he did on them. Maybe you would find it interesting

I have looked at the issue of the Troels filter a lot, I have spoken with someone who has listened to them and there are very divided opinions, it improves things but if later the sound is not so fun... in the end you are not looking for a perfect speaker but a speaker with which you enjoy. I would like to try it but it would only be possible by buying it from Troels since the values are not on the internet

I have studied that, but the upgrade, good as it seems to be, is expensive. I'm not willing to sink that much more into the speakers at this time.
PM sent.Do they sound as good as they look?
Awesome Job
I just had to refoam the woofers and rework the crossover on my hpm 900s View attachment 1085278
