that article relates to people believing their ball is extraterrestrial in nature when its made from 431 steel alloy. Sad. The existence of intelligent life elsewhere is pure speculation. Could be millions, could be none. Nothing to be sad about. The reality of science. Claiming the universe is teaming with highly advanced alien civilisations is a myth. Lots of bacteria infected planets, but very few like us.

Right not, we don't know and we don't have the ability to find out. We don't have any means to even travel to another planet.
The really sad part I would say is that we may never find out. I don't think mankind could last another 1000 yrs. We will likely be extinct by then and planet will be too toxic to support life.
Hence why I think we should prioritize Human 2.0 tech/AI stuff. I think it's our only chance to spread "life" in the universe. We're bound to this (these) planets. When I say "we" I mean humans in the current biological shape.
Why waste resources and impede our progress by having to pamper our biological weaknesses (in space) when we could just design them out.

Well yes, just so we can have this discussion comfortably and safely.
Life has always been this way, at all scales. I don't know of any self-limiting form of life. Something that would say "ok guys, that's enough, we draw the line here". We'll expand as much as resources allow. In our current biological form.

And yet faced with the reality of where we've advanced to, at the highest levels of our discovery, we refuse to accede to the truth it reveals. The reality of science. Claiming the universe is teaming with highly advanced alien civilisations is a myth. Lots of bacteria infected planets, but very few like us.
Now that's arrogance of the highest order.
We are our own oxymorons.
umm..count me out. 😊
Yes I understand his perspective on this but I disagree with the form we must have to succeed this endeavor. We're merely delaying the same result on Mars for example. Sure we have a few extra rocks we can settle, but they are smaller, and further away from the Sun.I think this is why Elon wants to get people out into the cosmos as soon as possible, before it’s too late
Our current form and biology is massively limiting and resource wasteful for carrying over a form that doesn't make much sense outside Earth, or other similar gems.
Unless we can trick the speed of light, somehow, we're not leaving our solar system. If we somehow manage to make a self-sustaining biosphere type ship then whatever gets to the nearest habitable planet will be wildly different than whatever left Earth.
The discoveries needed to make a habitable biosphere on Mars or one of Jupiter’s moons could also in theory be used to make life sustainable on Earth for say, another 500 years. Unfortunately nobody will bother to figure it out (translation: spend money on it) until it is absolutely necessary. By then everything is either dying or dead. I think Elon wants to do it because it will trigger another technological revolution that will be more useful in the long run than creating a smaller cell phone that can stream more channels of video simultaneously.
Depends on how many resources you wish to spend on "meaning". There can be a lot of meaning in the act of making new life that is not bound to Earth-like environments. This is now the black pill thread?
As I've mentioned already, there will be no escape. We will all be held to account, including Elon and his ilk.
Or the eschatology thread. We will all be held to account, including Elon and his ilk.

By "people" you mean his progeny right?
UFO sightings, reporting to the congress etc is a scam to pull money in to the ever deep rubbish bin. No real proof, mostly Infrared videos, interview stories that are many years old. Remember, the studios of NASA (and the pentagon) are many times advanced than that of all Hollywood studios combined. Some fake science always crops up from there every now and then from US. The aerial science is not like it used be 50 years ago.
As a meme why not. Tho he does have a pretty decent satellite constellation. Would he know anything about alien crafts?
More common than 'they' admit.alien crafts
