Is vinyl too sparkly?
Maybe a full recapping is not necessary yet, but can you find any personally resonating verbiage from Tony Gee?

To be sure to rule out your listening room, you might need to bring over your whole rig, but we'll get to the bottom of it.

There is no strict correlation between the price of a tweeter and the quality of its sound.
Precisely so. And sit closer to your speakers.Add an EQ to the system and boost the highs ?

that won’t change the fact that I want a more agile, quicker tweeter.
no?
Quicker means lighter, thus smaller. Plus response past 40k is pretty agile, right? SB 3/4 inch ring dome:

the dimensions of that won’t fit.
It's worth stating the dimensions: current faceplate diameter is 104.2 mm and mounting hole diameter is 75 mm.

Then this bigger SB ring dome drops right in, but barely goes to 30kHz....

I have a pair of a Proac DT8’s and was thinking if I could upgrade the tweeters in them.
pardon my ignorance since I am a total newbie And have no idea. I can solder tho.
the tweeter in my speakers is a scanspeak. From the pic below.
it is this one from their website. https://www.scan-speak.dk/product/d2604-830000/
could I just replace it with this tweeter without any other modifications? https://www.scan-speak.dk/product/d2904-710003/
could the faceplate just be switched as well So it can fit?
Many thanks in advance !

Drivers are almost a direct replacement other than rebate recess/faceplate thickness, so the new driver would be 0.9mm outside the baffle unless routed deeper.
Electrically, you would probably need to do some work on your crossover but the new one should be improvement over the old one since it's pretty flat from 2.5k to 20k.
I won’t talk you away from your imagination. And please spend money, it serves the economy well. But tweeters are not agile nor quick.that won’t change the fact that I want a more agile, quicker tweeter.

As somebody who only recently got his hearing checked all I can say is get hearing aids; good ones; that "sparkle" you are wanting and missing is in your head [ specifically in your ears] not missing from the tweeters.

It's obviously not in his head when the new Proacs use a ribbon tweeter...?
I say put a Clarity cap in there while you can still get anything British.
i didn’t understand that
w/o chopping anything, some felt around the tweeter can clean up some baffle diffraction. This shouldn't mess with the XO. Like any change, be sure to measure along the way.s there no ‘ upgrade’ ( god I hate that word) for the tweeter to be a bit more revealing and have a touch more ‘ sparkle’ ?
just web search for felt and laser cutting.
If you have a mic, why not go active or add some eq to the passive?
Someone more agile might predict the driver exchange spl behaviour of the speaker if there was x/o schematic of this loudspeaker and possibly suggest simpler modifications. That would certainly be a lot better than throwing in a Clarity Cap to make the crossover look nicer.
Thing is, expensive mods really do matter to one’s experience. Regardless of the factual outcome.
If in fact the tweeter is an oem version D2604-8300, it will be shy in the 10k+ region and worse slightly off axis. It sincerely is not that refined of a tweeter way up top as can be seen in the response plot and based on my experience having used it myself.
I would go with a good metal alloy dome with similar impedance, efficiency and faceplate diameter, given the crossover is simple enough to accommodate it without much of any modification.
