'Upgrading’ my tweeters (can I do this?)

I have a pair of a Proac DT8’s and was thinking if I could upgrade the tweeters in them.

pardon my ignorance since I am a total newbie And have no idea. I can solder tho.

the tweeter in my speakers is a scanspeak. From the pic below.

it is this one from their website. https://www.scan-speak.dk/product/d2604-830000/

could I just replace it with this tweeter without any other modifications? https://www.scan-speak.dk/product/d2904-710003/

could the faceplate just be switched as well So it can fit?

Many thanks in advance !

Drivers are almost a direct replacement other than rebate recess/faceplate thickness, so the new driver would be 0.9mm outside the baffle unless routed deeper.

Electrically, you would probably need to do some work on your crossover but the new one should be improvement over the old one since it's pretty flat from 2.5k to 20k.

s there no ‘ upgrade’ ( god I hate that word) for the tweeter to be a bit more revealing and have a touch more ‘ sparkle’ ?
w/o chopping anything, some felt around the tweeter can clean up some baffle diffraction. This shouldn't mess with the XO. Like any change, be sure to measure along the way.

just web search for felt and laser cutting.

If you have a mic, why not go active or add some eq to the passive?

If in fact the tweeter is an oem version D2604-8300, it will be shy in the 10k+ region and worse slightly off axis. It sincerely is not that refined of a tweeter way up top as can be seen in the response plot and based on my experience having used it myself.

I would go with a good metal alloy dome with similar impedance, efficiency and faceplate diameter, given the crossover is simple enough to accommodate it without much of any modification.
