Yes that's great, the only things missing are the outlines of the heatsink and we are good to go.
Indiglo:
I disagree. I certainly don't know in which forum the Wolverine boards will be made available for purchase after its launch is completed -- do you? Yes, there are plenty of commercial projects available on diyAudio, such as in the Vendors Market and Vendors areas. I believe some of those offerings started out elsewhere on this website. Moreover, take a closer look at the Group Buy and Swap Meet areas, where plenty of people are selling circuit boards at a price higher than the cost of the boards themselves. Many people who sell boards on diyAudio do so for a profit and without conceding their intellectual property. diyAudio's Store does exactly that. I certainly don't object to anyone offering me an opportunity to build their design, even if they make some money doing so, and I don't believe that "if this is the prevailing attitude the entire forum would cease to exist." If a designer wants to do what little she/he/they can do to ensure that parts are available for early adopters of their design (an act of kindness during a period of constrained parts availability as far as I'm concerned), that's (a) their business and (b) at their economic peril.
My point is that the manner in which designs are made available on diyAudio is not uniform. Other than withholding parts recommendations to non-purchasers until early adopters have had a chance to place their orders, the Wolverine design team isn't breaking new ground here. We should encourage all manner of audio designs that are made available to this community, even if we don't always like the way in which they are made available. If you would do things differently, feel free to do so.
Regards,
Scott

As someone who came to the party pretty late, saw the potential of the project, and took the GIANT leap of faith investing a whole $55 for world class pcbs, I appreciate and respect the decision of the team to keep the BOM unpublished for now. It was difficult to source some parts. I took a few days to put together my parts orders, and watched some components go on backorder before I was done. Just seems like sour grapes to those who had plenty of time to hustle up a few dollars (and a small fraction of the total build price) to get in on the GB.
Also, the team has said they will eventually release everything, so if you can be patient, you'll get your free lunch anyway.

Your logic is flawed. If this was a commercial venture or a "cash grab" as you put it earlier, why wouldn't they want to sell as many as possible? Why is the GB now closed? If the expectation that people should be paying for this amplifier design, then maybe this thread should be moved to the Vendors forum
Why do you continue to badger people here? You've been whining and complaining for 3 days now. And nothing has changed. That should tell you the following: even if everything you've said is correct, obviously nobody here cares. So sadly, you'll just have to suffer through this great unjustice. Please stop polluting the thread.
@SRMcGee ,
Your entire post reads like someone justifying the means to the end....
My view is that we are dealing with moving goalposts, you have to ask yourself is it a DIY Audio Store product, a DIY project or a vendor commercial offering, at this point and those of other posters there seems to be some confusion to what is on offer here, you could almost say its a bait and switch tactic.
Information was freely available at the beginning of this thread, then it slowly morphed into as a need to know basis to a select group of individuals.
Statements like not releasing information because of a global parts shortage looks questionable given the quantities of transistors involved compared to the entire global electronics manufacturing industry.

You have incredibly poor comprehension skills, I suggest you read from the beginning and see at what point information stopped being made to forum members.
Let me correct you here for a moment, I never made any statement about any "Cash Grab".
"They" can sell as many boards as they like, I really don't care, but to use the excuse of a global parts shortage to deny information is disingenuous at best.

Your life must be so sad that your entire life revolves around a audio amplifier.
It's a conspiracy specifically against you.
How old are you, seriously grow up and stop making a fool of yourself.

You can't judge the difficulty of finding the parts for this amp, or substitutes, without knowing what parts are on the BOM and what is required of them, can you?
No. You can't.
You don't have the basic information necessary to render a reasoned judgment.
Your judgements -- like the one above -- are based entirely on generalities and a large helping of cynicism. Not the kinds of things anyone on this forum values.
I am not part of "the design team." I bought the boards, I have the BOM, and I've sourced the parts. So unlike you, I have the knowledge necessary to form a reasoned judgement about the designers' decision to temporarily withhold the design specifics.
It's a perfectly reasonable decision, and one I appreciate, as a person who actually paid for the boards already.
Some resistors and capacitors required of this design need to fit in small spaces with high wattage and voltage ratings. And there are only a few semiconductors for any given position that will yield the promised performance characteristics for any given design configuration (rail voltage/speaker load).
Of the components I ordered for the Wolverine a few weeks ago, more than 10% are now out of stock. Many of those were already substitutes or significantly more expensive parts (embarrassed to say I paid $1.91 per resistor for some that should have only cost $0.33) that I ordered to avoid having to wait for cheaper suitable parts to be re-stocked.
One key semi (at least for my configuration) is now out of stock everywhere: Mouser, Digi-Key, Newark, RS, etc. Earliest availability is in July, and that was already pushed back a month since I last checked. The only in-stock substitutes are lower gain, and higher noise; and this is in an area both of those characteristics are highly undesirable. There's also one capacitor for which -- at every vendor I have checked -- there is now only one suitable part in-stock, and there are only 43 of them in stock.
So yes, it really is that difficult to find, in the whole global supply (a tiny fraction of which is made available to us), some of these parts.
And yes:
There are people who have been in this hobby longer than I who know of other sources and can probably find some of the parts I cannot.
There are probably other substitutes I was unable to find.
It's quite possible some large buyer will swoop in and buy up some of those remaining key parts, a risk that exists regardless of whether the BOM and design details are released.
But the goal was that this build should be as easy as possible for those who joined to the group by. And the undeniable the fact is releasing the BOM and design specifics on this site would make it more likely than it already is, the people who joined the group by will have difficulty building there amps.
Actually my life is great. If I hadn't participated in the GB it would be ok. I wouldn't be here crying about it.You have incredibly poor comprehension skills, I suggest you read from the beginning and see at what point information stopped being made to forum members.

You are correct. I looked back through the posts. My apologies.
Bro there is various people on this forum that have designed items and sell them here. I've bought a few things myself and never cared about what your waffling on about, all I wanted was the items and put it together and maybe some guidance. It's still DIY because you have to put it together yourself yeah, not commercial. If this is your prevailing attitude then the entire forum would cease to exist.
What you're describing is a commercial venture, remember this is a DIY audio forum.
If the expectation that people should be paying for this amplifier design, then maybe this thread should be moved to the Vendors forum, thus the justification for not releasing any information would be mutually understood.
My viewpoint is of someone watching from afar.....
Or maybe they should move the thread to the vendors section and start charging what the boards are really worth. Because I know for a fact this process of sourcing the boards and the distribution is out of love to help others make a great amp. Chasing money, who's paid, packaging, posting etc. It's not worth the effort for a commercial solution to line their pockets. It's chump change compared to what they earn in the real world and time with their family and friends and other experiences. I wouldn't mind betting they make this the last time they do it or maybe one last GB for those that are late to the party and that's it.
I ordered caps for the psu and were in stock when I ordered now I get an email saying there is none available. Worst thing was they shipped the clamps for them so maybe I wasted money there if I have to source an alternative cap with different diameter. The world's changed and things will get better with distribution and manufacturing as we learn from the last 2 years. But a big factor is the parts they selected have a tight tolerance so GB can be more likely garenteed a successful build. Down the line I'm sure people will experiment and try various components as substitutes and will document their success. But also if the amp is successful and well received whos to say the manufacturers aren't forced to make more specific components as demand increases. If the amp performs like I hear it does then many more people will come to DIY amplifier building and see the value of making something that cant be obtained off the shelf and can say they made. That's why I started building speakers and amps. Before Diyaudio I used to think certain retail speakers were great only to find out after building my own to find the crossover is built with $10 of parts at best and maybe $150 in drivers lol, so what was I paying for the looks? Then I built my own speakers for $300 and blew these brands away that i used to love. I remember i had 15k speakers as fronts in a HT setup only to start playing a movie with my diy speakers still plugged in and thought this sound track in this movie sounds great then I twigged I hadn't switched back the speakers to the HT Fronts after the testing. That's when I sold my 15k speakers and built 11 speakers for my home theater and never looked back. You can't judge the difficulty of finding the parts for this amp, or substitutes, without knowing what parts are on the BOM and what is required of them, can you?

From what I understand there are a few different heatsink sizes. You are currently drilling them and have theIf you could just add the holes we have to drill to the drawing (even the old ones already used for the UMS heatsinks) and the outlines it would be perfect. The reason I am asking for this is we are going to drill all the holes in a single time, we are not going to get an UMS heatsink and add these new holes as there could be problems with tolerance 🙂
dimensions for those holes so can't you pick-up on the existing holes?
The existing ums holes are shown in blue in the attached image

Haha, yeah my auto prediction is munted on my phone, it now predicts my typos. I'm to lazy to work out how to reset it. But I also only got a C in English lol.The only things I regret about my response to the troll were the typos. Haha!
I do belive that the CNC mashine needs the outlines of the heatsink to calculate the drilling. From what I understand there are a few different heatsink sizes. You are currently drilling them and have the

Correct but they are drilling the UNS holes now, all we have done is added some holes. We haven't moved anything else so they should be able to use their existing datum edges and just add the new holes to the NC program.I do belive that the CNC mashine needs the outlines of the heatsink to calculate the drilling.

Like I said, we are not using the already existing drawing for the UMS heatsink since we are drilling new heatsinks from scratch and because of that we need the outlinesCorrect but they are drilling the UNS holes now, all we have done is added some holes.
