Zebra mussels and restructured storm drains appear to have remedied much of that. Lake Ontario is remarkably clear most of the year and Toronto beaches haven't closed in ages. Then again I'm old enough to recall when the Erie shoreline was a continuous carpet of dead fish due to the phosphates.
Yes the water looks beautifully clean and clear. It adds an element of fun fishing in L Ontario when you can see trout follow lures from quite a distance back.
Recreational scuba diver's should like the viz. I don't know if there are any ship wrecks baring a treasure down there? They say Michigan has hoard of gold and silver at the bottom dating back to the American civil war.
I checked flight prices this morning. I don't see a difference compared to 2019 with a premium carrier. Its reasonable. But that will probably change like everyone keeps on saying.
Crude oil is falling by $10 this morning although not sure why. Maybe there are extra supplies coming from the gulf states.
Yes, the UAE announced it will make up shortfall, and it came down to $110 just on that news a few days back.
Very excitable market.

I did hear that but I am not sure if they will be able to follow through though.Yes, the UAE announced it will make up shortfall, and it came down to $110 just on that news a few days back.

Game of mirrors really...
One guy sneezes, every body catches a cold.
The current conflict has no impact on the rest of the world, except pipeline supplies from Russia to Europe, which may be passing through the conflict zone.
It does not affect the flow of North Sea oil, Gulf oil to everywhere , or Alaskan oil in North America.
Not even Gulf of Mexico, or onshore oil from Texas / Oklahoma / Canada.
So some people tried to bluff, got caught out.
Big deal.
From oil field to shipping tanker to refinery to gas station takes how long from the Persian Gulf to, say, Australia?
I think a few weeks at least.
Think also how many months' strategic reserves are stored in the USA, and in Europe. And in other places in the world.
Russia may be pumping Siberian oil for Asian customers from the Vladivostok area, again away from the conflict zone.
So if only 10 % or so of the demand faces difficult supply, such a reaction is excessive.
So think of the world situation around middle of December 2021...no such event had happened, as to make everybody act like headless chickens.

My point was that the supplies from say Saudi Arabia, to say, South Africa are in no way hindered by this conflict.
And as the population in Europe has become aged, industrial activity has come down, and energy use is plateauing.
Panic reaction.
Too much coffee, or similar...

How will the motor turn?
I thought of it at age 9, in 1974.
Reality is friction, so only 80% of the motor's energy becomes power.
The motor itself is 90% efficient.
0.9 x 0.8 = 0.72.
In other words, this will generate a lot less than the input power.

The big mystery is usually how they managed to feed a power wire to the contraption in order to run it.
But the point is, it generates without external supply. In other words, this will generate a lot less than the input power.
My mother wouldn't let us stay in the house from March through November, and we biked everywhere after about age 11 (that was 60 years ago and gasoline was $0.28/gallon and you got a set of dishes with each 8 fillups). My wife followed the same tactic and wouldn't let our 3 sons play in the house or watch TV, but biking was difficult in NJ compared to OH.The thing is, a lot of US kids don't play outside anymore. Biking is not a normal way of transport.
My guess is that NJ is much more hilly that OH?biking was difficult in NJ compared to OH
wasabii, two words for you...Second Law. Not only will no power be available externally, the contraption will quickly grind to a hault after being spun up. Entropy is the inescapable b***h of the Universe. This is cool, infinite self contained electric power. At least until the bearings fail.

I don’t think so.

In his defence, I think that wasabii was joking!
