Markaudio CHR-70 vs Pluvia 7 HD vs 7MS

Been looking at some Markaudio drivers, more specifically the 7 series as they seems to be a nice compromise between top and low end extension.
From what I've gathered, it seems the CHR-70, Pluvia 7HD and 7MS are the most linear with some BSC built in.

Does anyone have first hand experience with these?
I've heard some mixed feedback on the 7MS.
 
Good question. Unfortunately, I've used each in completely different circumstances, the CHR in a small tubular MLTL, the Pluvia on a 20" X 20" OB with bass helpers in an H frame. If you can afford, and this is your main system, get the Pluvia; sounds pretty darn good. If its a desktop system, for quiet listening while you work and you're a little cash strapped, get the CHR-70. It's a nice sounding little speaker.

Honestly I dont have the individual driver listening experience as someone like Dave; I'd say if the Pulvia's somehow got swapped out for the CHRs in my OB system unbeknownst to me (with level correction) - I wouldnt catch it, or it would sound better due to the smaller diameter cones. In that system, I cross @ 200 Hz.
 
I only know the Pluvia 7 and the 7MS (and the older obsolete 7.3), and of those still made the Pluvia 7 is the best, the 7MS has something missing that is hard to point out. Some who tested it says it's because it has a high IMD and the pluvia not. I did hear both in reflex testcabinets made by a friend. He did also like the Pluvia more as it's closer to the Alpair 7.3 than the 7MS. The CHR70 i never heared myself, but all who have say it's a step down from the others but still good sounding. I would go for the Pluvia 7 if I were you.

Thanks for the feedback! Seems 7HD is the way to go. Listening to the recordings above the 7MS it's clear that the 7MS doesn't have the treble lift the others have. Which might be a good thing in terms of listening fatigue though.
 
I have the older Pluvia 7, a 7MS and the MAOP 7. I acquired and listened to them in that order.
I have listened to these in a WAW arrangement so can't comment on the FULL-range performance.
The 7MS was an immediate upgrade to the Pluvia. The Pluvia (for my setup) required a notch filter on the treble area, if I remember correctly I think I had it at around 8kHz which reduced sibilance a bit. The 7MS required no notch filter. The 7MS had an immediate improve to midrange vocals over the Pluvia. However the 7MS has a lot of off axis energy due to its cone profile and due to the shape of my room I had more discernable energy from the left hand side than the right.
The MAOP 7 I am very pleased with, I have a notch filter at 10kHz. Of course I have also tweaked my crossover as time has gone on.
I should go back and try the 7MS again to compare but I'm really happy with the balance I have achieved so far with the MAOP.
These are of course all subjective opinions.😉 How the 7HD would compare I have no idea.
 
From the recordings MS series sound great but they sound too smooth in the treble area. For long listening sessions it might be better but its kinda smoothed too much. But havent heard them in person so cant say. They are all great drivers tho.

The regular old Pluvia sounds very close to the early CHR70.

Pluvia HD seems like MS but without that smooth top end and a little less body.
 
I purchased the P7HD and put them in a simple BR, but it needed EQ both to tame the top end and to add BSC.
The 7MS seems to have less peaking in the top end and some more naturally rising low end to combat baffle step, so might be trying that.
