I don't notice national flags of the participants anymore. Is this provision no longer available or something else?
Work has begun on restoring the flags.. it is currently not the highest priority but it is definitely wanted.
Notice that if you hover a name or avatar, the location (if known) is shown in text.national flags
You are "From Croatia", and if I click the placename Google Maps tries to find it. (Works for real place-names, some folks have too-clever 'locations'.)
While I have my own gripes on the new setup, I am here because of the content.
If people hate the appearance so much they want to leave, they're probably not that interested in the content anyway.

I'm curious about this fabled "sidebar" thing, I toggle the function and refresh but see no change whatsoever. What is it supposed to accomplish?
It is hard to identify members you "know" for a long time with the new avatars - any way to circumvent this ?
It's clear they are different and this can have its issues... but which way are you talking about?
I use multiple forums across a wide range of subjects that use a wide range of software so I've not had any issues getting on with the upgrade. And it IS an upgrade.
The only thing I'm waiting (patiently) for is the max number of posts per page to be raised to 50 again. Its probably just a psychological thing but a 1000 post thread with 50 pages of 20 posts seems more of a slog than 20 pages of 50 posts 🤣

Glad to see the stickies have been thinned, and now can be rolled up.. But there's a new, I think, "thread title" dialog box at the top? Seems un-needed as there's the big "post thread" button as well?
JRKO Yes, also it helps to have more posts on a page when looking for information, when replying to multiple posts and when coming back to a thread the next day so you don't have to go looking for the second last or third last page so often.
All but the Tube/Valve and Pass Labs sections. They are awaiting experts in those areas.Glad to see the stickies have been thinned,
Its sad to see how the forum is still not integrated properly with the google search engine. Infact i think its gotten even more disconnected from it seeing as how a search term only results in one link instead of multitudes like in the past. And clicking on those links still doesnt take me to the right thread page. Is it possible to see a fix soon?
This is good information about a not so good situation. I think the best action is to break this into specifics, and create a thread in the "list of things to do" forum... which is here - https://www.diyaudio.com/community/forums/new-platform-issues.191/
The search system was recently changed to a flexible style. It would be good to have feedback on how it works with people as well as how it works with google.

Thanks Allen. Ill try it there. Tbh i never bothered with the forum search engine over the superior google one. Even now my search term 'diamond buffer 3h' turns up zero results here vs two thru google 🙁This is good information about a not so good situation. Yes, please start a discussion in https://www.diyaudio.com/community/forums/new-platform-issues.191/ as these are new issues. The new search is orders of magnitude better, and faster, the the old one, and has been very well received. Allowing a Google search option might be a nice addition but I look forward to focusing on specifics in your dedicated thread on the topic. As for links in the search results (on diyAudio) not taking you to the right page, that's a new issue that hasn't been reported before. Please ensure you include some examples.

I don't think he's talking about allowing a Google search option on the site. He's saying that the results from this site when searching in Google itself have been degraded from the old site, i.e., the SEO is worse for diyaudio now than previously.
