It should be clear that "User - Preferences - Style - Classic" is already chosen.
Yes you are right. I see it in traffic, on the streets etc. Not exactly a sensitive type myself but I regularly get shocked by what I experience. The reaction to it was to become even more sharp as a reaction but that does not make life any sweeter. So the adagio now is "night ärgern, nur wundern".

Yeah, I miss that thread - it was a good dose of daily entertainment - and if it overheated a bit sometimes, it was soon stomped on. But also it had a lot of good, ongoing tech discussion too.I think a little bit of fun went away when the Blowtorch thread(s) got closed. I suppose the quality of it went down over time. Even if it was often repetitive and argumentative, it drew interest. The Black Hole never seemed to take off the same way.
For you. I find it much easier to engage in the new format. Thus the subjective part. Maybe it's just the novelty that interests me. 🙂Unengaging is the best word that comes to mind.
I've already forgotten what the old format looked like.
I do however view on a large monitor at a desk.
I'd probably be able to see only one post at a time on a tablet/phone. Unless it displays differently?

I look at the posts on my.Android S9 all the time. Not as easy as the desk top, but works for me. I implemented the older format that is available to us.
The new expansive layout...
It is one of the biggest issues in the transition, but also seemingly, one of the hardest to get at. It will evolve to be much closer to the old style. Patience is required. Better living with what we have as opposed to nothing, as the old sw wa sjust about to fallover being years past its expiry date.

The good thing about diyaudio is the average knowledge level is still significantly higher than ASR. Even if I find myself ideologically opposed to some here, there is higher quality in a lot of areas.User - Preferences - Style - Classic
I don't even remember anymore how the old forum looked like...
Fortunately "we" have ASR now for the cable/opamp/cap tweakers. But perhaps some of them get directed over "here"? More likely the covid isolation rules are driving people well, intolerant and aggressive...
I see we now have a Like button!
Completely understandable, it’s too much of a risk to run ancient software facing the public internet these days.It is one of the biggest issues in the transition, but also seemingly, one of the hardest to get at. The mobile experience is also significantly better I will say.
The mobile experience with the new forum software is superb IMV.
They said they will make some changes per the "customers'" feedback but I haven't seen those yet.
The easy stuff has been done, what may seem simple, is i am told not so easy, some actually needing development of a development platform We ask for patience.

There will be performance stats generated that prove or disprove whether Syn08 is subjective. Could admin please enlighten us?
It's the inherent property of repetition. It will eventually lose its steam even if it was kept open.Even if it was often repetitive and argumentative, it drew interest. The Black Hole never seemed to take off the same way.
Do we need a "Joe Rogan" esque bomb thrower espousing fantasy ideas and parallel universe concepts to get an engaged audience? It works for Spotify. John Curl is not that (still too based in reality and fact). Maybe someone could pick up the Enid Lumly mantel and create some controversy?
I agree. It's the inherent property of repetition. It will eventually lose its steam even if it was kept open.
Well, according to statistics, there is not single person on the planet that is capable of being truly objective, so we're all full of subjective opinionated fluff despite putting forward our very best effort. There will be performance stats generated that prove or disprove whether Syn08 is subjective.
Being objective is an unrealistic ideal, much like the concept "perfection". The best things in life are inherently flawed.

I've followed the whole thread, my initial response when I first saw it was to just reply: "Yes!"
Reading through the first post again now, it is filled to the brim with subjective opinion. Nothing wrong with that.

I only hold objective opinions.Reading through the first post again now, it is filled to the brim with subjective opinion. Nothing wrong with that.
😀
And I only hold water, fat and salt. Alcohol goes right to my head but gets rejected fairly quickly.
Try to the best of my ability to not hold any opinions at all, but usually fail at that.
