New Years fail

No fault of my own incompetence of amp building here. I have a huge amp. And it’s ******* New Year’s Eve!!!! It’s time for 7 year old disco party. I uncorked the amp (flat amp x3??? =louder) and bang, 1700 (time of day) dead big amp.

quick headlamp amp swamp to stand by class D (?) Akitika GT-102 and we’re back to New Years karaoke.

ya know how James Webb Space Telescope has a few “single point failures” well, my Pass F5T has about 16 single point failures, and one of them cooked. Heh heh

more stories from the trenches!!!

happy new year.

I think I found out what happened. One of the speaker wires had come off the terminal and made contact with the case. <face palm> Now it's time to pull that open and find the smoke... order parts, wait a month. blah! Lesson to me to properly terminate wires instead of just slap 'em on there.

I was so happy to find it was just a fuse. So I replaced it… hmmm another fuse. I’d ran out of identical fuses, so I put in a … larger one. Now there’s some action! Smoke and fire from one of the IRFP9240. There’s something I can fix. Remind me to get the video rolling before hitting ON switch next time.

What’s the best way to proceed? I’ll certainly need at least a new MOSFET.
