Christmas or Holiday Music

Christmas Music…you really only listen to it for a short period every year most likely.

It seems to pop up sporadically in the 15 Album thread.

I’m sure some love it and some…well, not so much.

I personally can turn into a bit of a Scrooge around the holidays.

However, I do have a few favorites I enjoy.

Putting on Vince Guaraldi’s A Charlie Brown Christmas usually gets me out of any funk I happen to fall into.

So let’s hear it…what lifts your spirits this time of year?

You had "Christmas in Connecticut" on last night on TCM -- one of Barbara Stanwyck's nice movies.

Me -- I like the Kings College 4 volume set, Met Opera set, Gene Autry, Bobby Vinton, etc.

Like most artists, you need to pick and choose the best tracks from the not so greats. That's why I like greatest hits albums. Years back I put together the best tracks from several Christmas CDs including those from Celine Dion and TSO. I have to say, please spare me the jazz versions. Jazz can be great but mostly it's not. I really don't care if it's commercial or not, but the odds of anything not very commercial being any good are poor.
