Welcome to the new diyAudio platform - feedback wanted!

Just wondering. Why does the whole page flash and reload when you push the backspace button while writing a post? But when you type regular letters it doesn't flash. Also each backspace press takes 2 to 10 seconds to complete as the page flashes. It seems to be going back to the server with every use of backspace button.

I find 20 posts on the Home Screen somewhat annoying.
We will address this eventually (not before Xmas though) - in the meanwhile you can easily see more by clicking the load more . . . .

I was wondering if post #1 of a thread is still available for update "forever" by the OP, so that they can keep the most correct version of the schematic updated over time. When thread gets to be a few hundred posts, it is nearly impossible to find a projects true schematic because everyone is posting schematics and revisions. The site really needs a way an OP can maintain what copy of the schematic is "the best" over time. Don't know how to add that feature UI-wise, but it would be extremely time saving for everyone.

What are you using to do this? Browser OS etc. Doesn't seem to happen for most regular users so might be specific to your combo of apps.

One thing I really liked about the old layout was that I could look at the latest 100 threads that have new posts in them. The top 100 basically would cover everything new and I could scroll down and look at whatever was interesting for me. The new layout sort of allows that but it requires the click of "load more" at the bottom after 20 or so threads. So far so good.... But, when I click into one of those threads and then go back to the page with the "latest", it's back to just 20 (I haven't actually counted the number) and I have to now keep loading more until I get down to wherever I was before. Is it possible to have the top 100 already preloaded?

Opening in a new tab is fair workaround for this.

When you are reading a thread of several pages and you are on, say page 3 of 10, and then you reply to a post on that page 3, your reply appears for you at the bottom of the page you're on (page 3 in this example) along with a note
Computers should not be cleverer than users. Computers should not warp time.
This {hard code 20/page} was noted in beta testing and it seems to be a "feature" of the new software.
That sounds like a screaming red flag, over-arrogant programming.

I think just under achieving programming. They didn't think any crazy audio folk would want to see 100 or more new posts at a time.
0, 1, and pi are hard-coded constants. ALL other numbers in programs should be variables.

Customer needs change. I was caught in CompuServe's "web forums" roll-out. Because CI$'s business plan had collapsed, they needed ads. In those days, page-static. So they decreed that ordinary members only got 3 posts per page-load. Select members could get 20/page. (In the previous interface, hundreds of posts could be captured in a minute.... do we want to go back to off-line reading?)
