45 Tube recommendations

Hi

I’m in the process of building my first 45 tube amp.

I’d like to give it a try without spending too much, so something with a good ratio price vs performance would be great.

My OPT will be Edcor 15W so this should gives you an idea of the overall cost of the amp.

Would you have any recommendations for the 45 output tube, brand, etc.?
They don’t even have to be test great, just good would be ok for now. If I don’t really like the overall sound at least I won’t have spent a lot. I’m aware that the overall sound of an amp is not just based on the output tube but it still has an influence.

Maybe drop me a PM if you feel like getting rid of some 45 tubes you don’t plan on using.

Thanks
Eric

Are you after used, NOS or current? If NOS or used, then matching could be a factor? eBay is a pretty efficient market. Maybe if it is collection only, and local, or an auction that ends at 3am on Christmas morning then you might strike lucky.

I don’t really mind used, NOS would be great. Even weaker tubes would be ok, I basically would like to know what a 45 sounds like. If I don’t like what I’m hearing I’ll convert the amp to use 2A3 or 6B4G, not sure which one.

Nobody recommended a brand of 45 over another so I’ll assume based on the lack of answers that all the 45 NOS are probably sounding about the same in a dedicated amp, using the same hi efficiency drivers so it’s time to go shopping.

Thanks
