3Way - Beyma ribbon, 18 sound woofer and (?) midrange

passive, 4th order on the low end and 2nd order on the highend. It's been 10 years so I have no recollection of the component values at this point.

you have better memory than I do! I'm doing active, so knowing it was 2nd order at 2kHz is good.

I'm toying between this and 3 or 4 3FE22 in a line array besides the TPL.

In the 10 years since using the 8PE21, what mids have you found to like better?

Thank you

Good job!

What are the crossover frequencies and what does it sound like?

Thanx!

Frequencies are 350 Hz and 1,6 kHz
A sound is wonderful, an incredible soundstage and holography.
It's not detailed enough because of a cheap crossover DACs. I'm planning to find a better digicross, maybe Accuphase or DEQX.

The second weakness is a low range. This system needs a subwoofer to support the bottom 🙂

I have designed a sub, I can post a pic a little bit later.

Anyway, it sounds LOVELY!

Hi SOVA audio.

Do you know this thread?. Acoustical notch filter for TPL-150

I use TPL in dipole configuration with oneoclock horn. If twitter is open, deep is larger and image is better. And distortion of TPL is lower.

In three way systems, 1,6 khz for TPL maybe is too lower. I cut this at 3,2 khz.

By cutting the midrange speaker between 300 and 3500 Hz, you will cover most of the voice spectrum. Your midrange speaker can do this without any problem.

For active configurations, dephonica sofware is great croosover option.

The notch filter is made for the TPL-150H and not the TPL-150 I believe. You’d also need to remove the rear chamber, which would require SOVA to house the tweeter in its separate chamber.

Running the 6” mid up to 3,500Hz would result in a directivity mismatch with the tweeter and lobing could become an issue since the T-M distance is quite large.

SOVA, do you have any measurements to share?

TPL-150H and TPL-150 is the same twitter. Only diference is with or without horn.

You can choice to buy beyma horn, or print or own horn wiht oneoclock cad files.

Oneoclock also provide better rear chamber for closed configarations.

I'm using TPL-150H as dipole as well. Could you please include a link or reference to the oneclock horn you mentioned?

I agree the TPL in dipole sounds better to me. Crossing over at 1.8kHz for now.

I'm having the notch filters printed to try out. I do believe they are designed to work with TPL-150H with the air resistance provided by the waveguide, but I'm still to try them.
