Let's try and knock this into shape:
Joan Lasenby describes serious marital issues when her husband becomes obsessed with Geometric Algebra. They had no common language.

But being smart and adaptable, she got up to speed. 😀
I had a similar moment whilst reading D.C. Comics. Triplicate Girl!
My friends tended to read Marvel comics. You know, Spiderman, Captain America an' all that. 😕
I actually know how to be Invisible. A superpower. But for another day, methinks.

I'm beginning to see through you! 😀I actually know how to be Invisible.
Looks good, Bonsai!
I'll be delving in to some of those podcasts. Must check if my boy's aware of them.
As for evolution, see attachment. 😉
😀
Our elder son has just surprised us with a visit, and he was delighted when I gave him details of the Common Descent podcast. 😎For those of you also interested in evolution, paleontology, climate-paleontology and dinosaurs, I can highly recommend About Us – COMMON DESCENT
In return, he gave me a belated Father's Day gift: Science(ish) - The Peculiar Science Behind the Movies

Can we resurrect dinosaurs? Is a trip to Mars good for your health? Can we build a time machine? (And more importantly, can it look like the DeLorean?)
Looks like a fun read!

There's a Space Rocket taking off at 3.30PM BST, in an hours time.
It's rather pretty.
Mr. Richard Branson of Virgin Galactic is on board.
Virgin Galactic
Wouldn't catch me in that thing... All looks a bit sudden to me. 🙄

It's the latest! It's the greatest!
One of the early astronauts, Shepard or Carpenter, was asked by a reporter "How do you feel, going into space in this magnificent example of American technology??"
He looked at him, said "Who are you kidding? This thing was built on low bid, I'll be lucky to come back alive!!"

Scotland's First Space Pilot
Dave Mackay, who flew today, is Virgin Galactic's chief pilot.
He grew up in the small village of Helmsdale in the north of Scotland.
As a child, he was inspired to become a pilot through watching Buccaneers from RNAS Lossiemouth (now RAF Lossiemouth) performing high speed, low altitude manoeuvres above the village.
After his first flight into space in 2019, he returned to Helmsdale to share his experience with the local school children.
Accompanying him into space on that first flight was the Ladybird hardback, called Exploring Space, which he'd been awarded for his good attendance at Sunday school in Helmsdale in 1964.

I was quite interested in how much a Trip into Space might cost... 😕
Whole thing looks safe enough. Though the Virgin pilots appear to be ancient and liable to croak mid-orbit. Which is a worry.
Virgin Galactica are currently charging about $250,000 for 90 minutes of sub-orbital spaceflight on advance bookings. They hope to get this down to $30,000. But have actually upped it to $500,000 due to lack of current interest in Sea Cruises. You get a free space-suit.
Jeff Bezos of Amazon is currently charging $22M for a higher flight. You get to sit next to Jeff Bezos. The whole thing is computer controlled, and much more environmentally friendly since the rocket exhaust is water.
SpaceX is charging $55M for a higher flight altogether. Not sure if you sit with Elon Musk of Tesla. Not sure where it goes either.
Looks like I'll have to slum it with Virgin. Famous for cheap flights. 😀

The thought of sitting next to any of those three is enough to make me spend the money on a yacht and go sailing instead.
If you don't need to see the curvature of the Earth (or what little you might see at 55 or 62 miles up), there's the airplane thing, 30-seconds at a time of zero gee on a plane flying parabolas, 10 x 30 seconds, about 5 minutes total, and for only about $6,000.
Home Landing - ZERO-G

Or, you could launch yourself from the 37m high ceiling of the world's largest vacuum chamber and enjoy 2.75s of zero gravity!
And, if you could sneak in past security, you could enjoy it for free. 😎
Unfortunately, your speed of impact on the floor would be 97km/h. 😱
However, by wearing suitable clothing, you could cushion your fall. 😀

Have I fully thought this vacuum free fall scenario through!
Could your body survive the vacuum exposure without exploding?
Are we talking Total Recall?
Apparently, you wouldn't explode, you would remain concious for about ten seconds and you would survive about ninety seconds.

Thanks for the tumbleweed moment, guys!

That was interesting. An invasive plant from Russia! Arrived about 200 years ago.
I found the bit about cherries designed to be eaten by birds for seed dispersal interesting too. My neighbour gets annoyed to bits when the birds eat all his cherries just before they are ready. Even (cruelly, IMO) fires a catapult at them. In return, because birds can recognise people, they have singled out his car in the street and poo on it relentlessly. 🙂
Another old neighbour used to fume when the blackbird ate all his grapes too.
"Look at that bird! It's so heavy with my grapes it can hardly take off!"
Isn't nature wonderful!

Tumbleweeds were mentioned on the radio during the Euro football final. When Italy equalised, and everybody was thinking "Oh No, PENALTIES!", the commentator remarked:
"It's gone so quiet at Wembley, you could hear a tumbleweed roll!"
Made me laugh.
