The New Hypex Fusion Plate amps

My routine is to do measurements with REW and start HFD with flat response. Flat.fr should come with SW package. Keeping these two programs active in W10 desktop is easy and the don't interfere. One can save measurements and setting in same directory of the computer, to make further changes easier to start with.

FA253 protect light

Just got 2X FA253 and they are both doing something I haven't seen before. When I power them down the protect light goes on, and stays on for a minute even after the IEC plug is removed. Both units are doing the same thing, straight out of the box. Otherwise they seem to operate normally. What's going on?

Hi every one,
I'm getting a fusion fa503 for a project.
I wonder how to control volume without having to instal hypex remote, i don't want to use a remote as my dogs often chew these, i want a rotary control so that volume is at hand

What are my options please to get a device as a dac/preamp with volume control AND digital out to attack hypex in digital?

Or is there any quality loss using a smsl dac with xlr outputs?

Ps: my source is PC and flac files
Thanks

I have a pair of FA 502 that I managed to get working back in May.

I am using them to experiment with and power different low frequency solutions.

The only thing I’ve tried to use HFD for is to set a low pass at 150-300Hz or a High Pass at 30 Hz to run them fullrange so I can use my First Watt B5 as I have previously on open baffle experiments.

I have a few issues and found the post below which seems related.

One amp is only recognized as “Unknown” by HFD.

Also, this problem:

I enter HFD and enter filter points (ie a pair of points at 30 Hz for a LR4 High Pass) and then have to save/name the filter before I can upload it to a preset on the amp I am connected to. I can then successfully upload the filter settings to that amp.

After I have finished I shut down HFD and power down the amp so I can connect and program the second FA502 the same way.

Once the second amp is powered up and I am in HFD I can open the same filter file I have already created.

HFD will not allow me to upload that filter file to the second amp...it never highlights the “upload to preset” button to allow this.

I have looked for a copy feature or something else to allow me to copy the filter and then upload it, but I have had no success.

I found an “import” feature but that does not seem related to the function I am trying to perform.

I have to resort to creating and saving a complete new filter from scratch with the same exact settings, saving it and then uploading it just for the second amp.

Is this normal? I can’t imagine having to do this for a complex filter file twice every time.

Does anyone have the software fix file they can share with me mentioned in the quote below to address the “Unkown” issue?...or a link to the correction info for it or the problem I mentioned regarding uploading the same filter file to more than one hypex amp?

...installing and configuring my FA123 and I get:

Productcode: Unknown

And the HFD refuses to upload presets...

I read here that they'll send you a software tool to fix this...

As soon as the other FusionAmp is recognized by HFD, you will be able to upload your configuration file to both amps.

You will not be able to upload a file for a FA503 to a FA502 or to a FA123. The FA type must be identical to the amp for which it was originally created.

Sometimes you need to save the file oncemore before you can upload it to the next FusionAmp.

Not safe enough in front of 1000w ...
I want a device with a rotary control, and come in digital from my usb PC
Buy a miniDSP SHD Studio, connect to the FAs digitally and control the volume via the SHD's knob. So you get a great streamer, a USB audio connection to your computer, DIRAC Live, an informative display, stays digital for as long as possible, and of course the volume control knob comes true.
If you want to use analogue source, just buy a normal miniDSP SHD (not the Studio).

I succesfully made filters designed for a 503 work on my 253.

Open the config.xml file in an editor and change the product number in the device tag to match the one that hypex adds to the filters created for the device.

I needed to change it from 22 to 18.
It should be line 6:
<device productnr="18" buildnr="4" procsamplingrate="93750" selectedpreset="1" gainlowered="false" fusionamp="0">

You probably should only do that with amps that have the same amount of channels. Before I did that I checked that the files are actually completely identical for 253 and 503 (disregarding filter values)

That is interesting. The FA12x are also productnr 18 but buildnr 0.
The difference in this line between FA123 and FA122 is in fusionamp 3 and 2.

For FA123:
<device productnr="18" buildnr="0" procsamplingrate="93750" selectedpreset="1" gainlowered="false" fusionamp="3"> (in some older files fusionamp="0")

For FA122:
<device productnr="18" buildnr="0" procsamplingrate="93750" selectedpreset="1" gainlowered="false" fusionamp="2">

Of course there is also the data concerning the NC100HF in the FA123 Config.xml file.

I did not try to load a modified config file yet.

You will not be able to upload a file for a FA503 to a FA502 or to a FA123. The FA type must be identical to the amp for which it was originally created.

A simple change in the header allows files to be loaded to other model fusion amps with the same number of channels. From memory it's the <device productnr="xx">. Just have a look at the file for your other amp and compare. I've swapped files between different amps numerous times.
