Until very recently I thought that as well (understimated burden etc.) but this total disappearance (despite the many "golden bridges" built by many posters here) makes me wonder. But I am the first person to apologize if my suspicion turns out to be unfounded. If Vitaly is ill, I wish him all the best (!) - but simply ignoring people - let's put it this way - it leaves a certain aftertaste.
I believe he is not a cheat. But he just could not envision the burden of the group purchase and eventually crumbled under the workload. He said he was sick. Some business do go belly up.

I don't like to think of him as a cheat but if he does not deliver nor communicate after we paid him in advance over 6 months ago what else can you call that. I do feel very cheated!
I had suggested to Dr Mordor a while back that he could have a professional assembly house (in China perhaps) build these amps and take the burden of the mind numbing monkey labor off his back. For the amount of money he collected ($144 x 20+), this could easily have been done by PCBway, or JLCPCB, for example. It’s still not too late, unless the funds collected have been squandered, or he has no intention of getting the orders fulfilled.

I hope you are right and I believe everyone on the group also prefer as either way some communication or replies helps us to feel better. As ignoring by him makes us feel cheated.
Hi Vitaly, you are an excellent technician, you have designed and built a good amplifier.
We are all concerned about your non-participation in the forum.
You always answered my questions in private, now not anymore.
If you have had or are having problems please keep us informed.
Few of us have received your amplifier and I am aware that you have other plans for the future.
Please, as you have given me the pleasure of listening to your amplifier, let the rest of the buying group do it too,
don't ruin everything you've built up to now.

I can only agree...."Nerone"
Let us participate in your great projects and please don't screw it up. I know that you are a nice guy...

I repeat myself - Vitaly does go online and seems to post quite actively - just not in THIS forum (or only without logging in).....😕

I guess this is Vitaly and his Akita amp design being discussed in the Russian forum. I may be wrong if he is not the same guy but he seems to be very active there on the forum discussing about the amp. I hope I am not violating the forum rules by posting the links to the external sites.

Agree, he will be overwhelmed with the effort required, most of the parts are customized and requires manual labor like the heatsink mounting,
drilling, and inductor coils winding. For me 1 week per module is acceptable for assembly and testing.
Also the SMT trace for TPA3255 chip is error prone (attached pic) since there might be unintended shorts on the pins. Each pin should be soldered separately even if they are electrically connected. Since there will be an additional effort to check if the shorts are correct.
Then the price is very cheap, only 1 assembly mistake or lost package is required to lose all his profit. I guess he lost interest this way.

Sorry, but once I offer a specific product and accept payment, it is no longer a matter of "losing interest".....

If I were to do all 24 boards (or whatever) by hand (it would drive one mad, and be prone to errors and require rework),I would NOT use a soldering iron and string solder. I would get a paste dispenser or stencil and squeegee and use hot plate and hot air pencil. It goes 100x faster and will make clean joints mostly free of solder bridges. The through hole and mechanical assembly can be done easily enough by the customer if he reduces the price or gives a partial refund. But easy way is send Gerber and BOM to a place like PCBWay and let them handle the SMT parts at least.
He anticipated the amount of work, time required and I guess after taking into considerations all of these only he started the group buy and accepted the payments. If he genuinely midway thought that its not possible he should have posted here saying so, and we as members part of the group buy would have discussed and agreed upon some possible options amicable to all. Like refunding or partial boards etc., but not this way of just escaping from the group and not taking the messages.
Also as he anyway built and delivered to 4-5 members he would have realized the amount of work required and accordingly would have said the same and refunded us the money or like XRK said used China board houses to get at least the SMT/SMD parts soldered. But never expected a group buy in the forum to go this way which is not acceptable with the trust we are placing on esteemed forum.
Still curious to know how many of us are actually effected with the non-delivery from the total of 24 amps! Also now I realize that he did not do the amp builds in the order of PayPal priority which he mentioned in his earlier posts and as well as replies to my DMs.

I just hope that the people who run this forum take notice of what has happened and take appropriate action so that such a thing won't repeat itself (understanding of course that participation in a GB is always at the participants' risk and the "forum itself" is not responsible).
Most? of us are beyond the 6 month PayPal limit. I'm wondering if we approached them as a group if we might stand a better chance of PayPal helping?
Thoughts?

I doubt if that is possible as the T&C of PayPal clearly states the transaction should be within the 180 day period if you want to raise a dispute otherwise they cannot help it anyway.
