Bigun, the footage is a recreation, it says so in Italian
Robert Hastings (included in the video) has focused on UFO incursions into nuclear test facilities in his books. A documentary was made with his involvement called UFOs and Nukes. I mentioned it way earlier in the thread. His research also features into a condensed segment of the recently released documentary called The Phenomenon which I also mentioned way earlier and many times subsequently. Both have been free to stream on Amazon at some point.

SETI is about analysing EM signals for signs of alien intelligent life.FWIW Horowitz of Horowitz & Hill/Art of Electronics is also a SETI guy.
Although the goal (publically at least) seems to be finding it, that is only a hypothesis, and any good scientific research starts out with a hypothesis.
I believe the hypothesis is quite reasonable, given the scale of the Universe.
Thing is, proving the negative to any degree of certainty ie. "There is no intelligent life outside Earth" is also going to be exceedingly difficult.
I can see why SETI might appeal to an EE in particular. It doesn't make them delusional.
There was an alien scare a good few years ago.
They picked up a wireless transmission which was regular from space.
They eventually worked out it was a Pulsar.

That's one of the really cool things about this kind of scientific exploration ... You sometimes learn unexpected things too [emoji2]
As for the evaluation of skill level, Picasso had something to say. "In 15,000 years we have invented nothing!" - The Photo SocietyWhat was the general skill level of an artist 10,000 years ago?

Picasso was a genius, I have to count myself an admirer.

I wasn't implying anyone was delusional.SETI is about analysing EM signals for signs of alien intelligent life.

I also see the SETI project as a reasonable hypothesis. Assumptions are made; hypotheses devised; a way to test those assumptions is formulated and constructed.
That's different than making untestable assumptions, then making more assumptions in an attempt to legitimize the previous assumptions, and quite possibly adding further assumptions on top of that.

v. interesting. It does appear to be an open approach, which offers a way to cover a lot of sky without costing us taxpayers. It doesn’t appear to have safeguards against ‘fraudulent’ data contributions (which would undermine the genuine data) whereas I assume the university lead SETI programs output is scrutinized / peer reviewed. Anyhow, this ‘crowd sourcing’ has potential to generate higher quality data, it’s worth a shot!
100% agree.
I do think the idea is that as the gathering network increases, fraudulent “submissions” will become easier to detect

As we all know, the aliens are blancmanges from the andromeda galaxy and are here to win wimbledon.

On the other hand, depending on age, a free prostate exam isn't so bad... 😀
Do you mean it will become an enjoyable experience, given time?

it’s a better approach than we usually take when learning about new species - we usually drop them in boiling water or clorophorm and then slice them up!

That points to the nub of the alien contact debate. Not the alien part, but the contact part. Not whether civilizations might exist on other planets, but whether possible they are actually visiting us here on this one. Discussion are too easily derailed in simply debating whether or not life might exist elsewhere.
