I wonder if you also were aware that the Mick West debunking videos repeatedly posted here were made by a someone open to the reality that the UFO phenomenon is real. According to Jacques Vallee, there’s quite a number of scientists interested in the phenomenon who essentially publicly conceal their work on the topic to avoid professional ridicule. This is what his book The Invisible College is about.

Over the years there have been many historical fakes. Some folk used to tear the blank pages out the front of vintage books, then get hold of some ancient ink and create believable forgeries. That’s the explanation my friend, a fake, a forgery, produced by a ‘modern’ human. Simple as that. Or you have us believe aliens came down in a rocket powered saucer and a bloke in a cave said “hold it, nobody will believe me, we ain’t invented cameras yet, so I gotta do this painting thing and I’m going to use perspective and other stuff that no other cave dweller has done yet” and that was that, never repeated, nothing else happened. Pull the other one!

If I were a physicist I'd certainly keep my interest under wraps, I'd have enough to deal with just validating the Standard Model. 🙂

Regarding the book, it is 45 years old. It is not academic in the sense that you inquire, it is more the latter; actual scientific inquiry being conducted into UFO-related subjects, often on the sly by scientists who keep it separate from their “day job”

Here, in my country, we authenticate things with a letter made by people called Notary Public, but 10,000 years ago I don't think they existed, I can't give you the security you're looking for .....
But suppose that indeed that "cave painting" is a crude creation of some phony, that does not prove that also all the videos that are available in YT, - are fantasies.
Most of the testimonies are from people with a prestigious career who dare to tell what they have seen once they have retired, when they no longer have the fear of losing their job or making a fool of themselves. You say that you do not watch the videos of the links, because I think you say that as an excuse because you do not have any explanation about what you see) For example, what happens with the test of the nuclear capsule deactivated in the air? How and who did it? The images are real, eh!
And what about the juggling "thing" attached to the Concorde? They are only two of thousands of documented UFO events and kept out of the reach of the public opinion for years.
But since you have mentioned that you don't usually read the links, (like the vast majority here, I'm afraid) I no longer see the sense of continuing in this thread.

Well there is fringe stuff in there like the psychic research done at SRI in the 70s. I never take any literature as gospel.

Is it genuine stuff? I have no proof otherwise but it raises obvious doubts - why did this happen at that time and not since ? why was the path of the UFO beam so visible, just like a sci fi movie depiction? why is this footage even available if constrained by legally signed do not disclose orders?
