SB Acoustics Textreme

Hifi compass MW19TX-4 frequency response measurement very different from SB. Kind of disappointed about this as the midrange rise on SB graph wd have been very useful Assume hifi compass test is v accurate.
Has anyone else measured this model yet?

Here are my measurements of the raw woofer - In a 445mm h x 230mm w baffle , 20L sealed box. No EQ, 5ms gating. See waveguide thread for more.

Thanks forbthe measurments.
The baffle step fallsbelow 600 hz which is not a surprise... But it is like if your speaker has no gain from the near walls! Did you measure it in a garden far from qny walls but the soil ?

It is absurprise it falls below 84 dB till to 82 dB .... even if Edge soft gives till 8 dB loss around 100 hs... but below Schroeder frequency you should have more gain I beleive...

Bad unit ? Bad Vas measured and too low volume box?
Unfornatuly I was on the process to measure an other SB unit which is the SB23nbac with close cabinet dimension but double liters than your.... but a cable is missing I have to buy again....covid hassle between places, lockdowns.....

Yeah such a shame. I wondered where he was also. We used to pm on occasion because we had the exact same ideas. I had no idea. It is so sudden. He will be missed if he doesn't pull through. Well actually obviously he is being missed now. Or hopefully he has a miracle and pulls through it all. I am hoping and praying for the latter.

Old Speaker Guy - info here unfortunately.

Favorite Drivers at every price point and WHY?

:eek:Oh Shite:( That really sucks. I would like to think he would be able to hang in there long enough to build his last build and go out listening to them but alas I'm a bit of a romantic that way.

Hey old speaker guy if you read this my heart goes out to you. I hope you have a loving family to comfort you and no unfinished business to attend to, with the exception of speakers of course.;)

Well I took the plunge. I have a pair of TW29TXN-B-8 tweeters and a pair of 6.5 MW16TX-4 woofers arriving tomorrow via Fed Ex. They where supposed to have been here today but the delivery got held up in Las Vegas for some reason.

Once I get them I will do some initial testing and get a feel for what I want to do with them. I'm either going to do a 3-way in which case I will still need to match them with a midrange or I do a MTM in which case I will need two more woofers. I would really like to see Madisound stock the 5" TeXtream driver incase I decide to build the 3-way which is my plan A. The checkerboard appearance of these drivers make it difficult to find a midrange that will not look odd sitting in between these two.

To me the most important factor is the sound but this build I'm going for something more. This build is going to look as good as they will sound. I have some ideas for the cab's that I haven't seen any one do yet and it won't be easy to do right, so I'm going to have to experiment a bit be for committing to the build. But if it works like I want it to I predict these will be some sharp looking cabinets. Stay tuned for a build thread.

I have the same pair of drivers, and I am quite satisfied with them.

If you decide to do a 3-way, you do not need a midrange, the MW16TX has excellent midrange qualities. The TW29TX can be crossed fairly low, in my case 1600 hz.

What you need is a good woofer. A 10, or a 12, or a pair of 8's...
