DIY Sony VFET pt 1

As i understood the rules, one does not have the choice to choose so if you forgo your P-Channel i do not believe any of your entries will have survived to Round 2.

dave

Actually it does if I am not mistaken... in the end it's a game of odds depending on the number of your "tickets" that would push you to "reject" the first winning draw and enter the second one for the N-channel ...

That said, if NP decided both were good to go, I don't care!

EDIT: My "P" is kit paid for anyway, so consider this some OCD driven thing... for the sake of it

I can’t find exactly what MeanWell supply is spec’ced ?
I assume it’s a brick like we have for the ACA but higher voltage It would be good to know also if there’s an equivalent of the SMPS type with the perforated cover with equivalent specs for those who might want to put it in a chassis.

On second thought I looked at the picture again and can't say for sure that the connector is a line cord type.It may very well be the round type of one of those laptop supplies, however looking at the prices of those compared to the internal ones there is quite a difference, the internal is much cheaper. However i'm sure Nelson gets a discount :).Anyway I could drive myself nuts mulling it over so I may as well wait until someone that actually knows pipes up or we get ours and see for ourselves.

I strongly suspect they are the external brick type as we’ve had a lot of luck with the ACA that way. I could ask Jason, but don’t want to be a PITA. The connector looks too small to be AC. Also it’s kind of a feature of very expensive amps to have a remote PSU and with a brick we get that on the cheap.

But it would be fun to see what ‘open Frame’ PSU’s have the same specs or possibly better

Ok as we talk PSU.

Would just regular latest known interaction of FW psu with separated voltage per channel be an upgrade over included MeanWell? First I have many of those and second, I would not be a DIYer if I have not started upgrading stuff before even building it :)

I can even do something like Salas Ubib for the FE :)
