DIY Sony VFET lottery discussion

Ok here comes my sad tale. Alarm goes off, waiting for lottery. Random wait of 3:59 before switching to registration thread. Only then realizing my phone doesn’t have my password stored just the home computer. Ok request password reset. Go to email, copy new password, return to log in but now not on lottery page. You can see where this is leading. Back to email to follow link. On registration page, frantically typing yes please, send. “Sorry the king is no longer active”. Check time 1:16. Arghhhh. Thanks for letting me vent. Congratulations to those who won.

Sorry to hear that Stephen! If you are really keen, there is another window in 12 hours, (probably) in the middle of your sleep :)

My entry seems to have vanished from the lottery thread though it is still visible in my posting history...

Well, I hope that people unsubscribed for email notifications to the original thread otherwise, you might possibly be in for a surprising inbox.

Anyway, thank you again Jason everyone at the diyaudio website for making the process smooth and happy.

Thank you to the designers, testers of prototypes, guys with slide rules, and team of crack audio scientists for putting the amplifier together.

I didn't even think of that... that's something like 1400 x 1400 , i.e. +/- 2 million mails in 15 min ?

A few people simply just don't care much for others, don't they?
Site admins: "Please, be patient, post once, don't flood the channel"...
The lottery thread post count per person (of those that have more than 1 entry - Jason excluded from the rant, of course :) ):

It's really sad to witness some people care very little for others. If it were up to me, I'd exclude everyone with more than one entry from the pool (I understand 2 posts if you think yours didn't go through, but 16?), but I know Jason is a much better man than me. Shame on you multiple posters! :(

On my part I posted two messages because I didn't have confirmation of the first post. After posting for the first time, I was redirected to another thread. When in doubt I went back and posted again. If I had confirmed the first post I would not have posted again.
It wasn't bad faith!
This may have happened to others as well.

If you search the thread by username, it is there, but if you follow the link, it isn't.

The system may be misplacing some posts due to identical timestamps? Jason, maybe it's worth a different approach to extracting the users that posted than just 'looking' at the thread? Directly from the DB or comparing the people who posted count window with the entries?

So, it seems there may have been a chance that some folks just signed up with "smurf" accounts to try and increase their odds? :/

diyAudio doesn't allow smurf / sock puppet / duplicate accounts. We have various means of detecting them.

Additionally, no registrations after April 1st will be considered.

This was a big reason for having entries via posting - its'a a good way for us to ensure 1 entry per member. No system will be perfect, and we're not at the "please submit your (inter)nationally recognized ID" stage yet.
