I just also ordered a new Crown power amplifier. It is model XTi 1002. LOTS of built in filter options. I looked at high quality capacitors and inductors for use with my MW13TX. I would need to spend a lot of money on passives so I decided this time; I will get more high tech with DSP, etc. The Crown is class D but if for some reason I think it doesn't do justice with the MW13TX, I can swap it out. I now (or soon will) have 5 amplifiers, not counting a D class mini amp. The first Crown I got is class A/B. It made my Satori MW and MR16s both come alive like nothing else I ever tried before.
The Crown XTi is a class A/B amp not class D. Not that it matters too much but maybe for someone.
OK, thanks! I assumed it was class D since it can drive 2 Ohm loads. I have not read the detailed specs but the weight says it probably is class A/B; over 18 pounds. I have a XLS 2002 also and it is MUCH lighter, definitely class D.

This thing connects to your PC via USB. MANY features so getting a custom filter will help me fine tune not only the MW13TX but I can use this amp on every driver stereo pair I have, one pair at a time, to optimize the in-room response. Now, I just need to get REW working properly; it always says I have a way lower than expected level no matter what I do or try.

Well, I am getting the amplifier so I can fine tune the FR without any passives. I realize it is WAY overkill for an amp that massive for a small, 5 inch pair but it is the features I need not the high power.
Does anyone know when the 5" drivers will be available here in the US? Is Madisound their only distributer in the US? These drivers seem to be kind of hard to obtain.
Solen in Canada has 4 pieces coming in April; I pre-ordered 2. Madisound and Meniscus aren't showing them even as back order yet last time I checked. Call them or e mail them maybe.
Looks like a substantial upgrade, plus the new material allows all kinds of ribbon and AMT tweets to be used .Well that was a bit of anticlimax...
Better midrange but worse mid bass than the paper versions for both the MW16 and MW19.
Looks like the trade offs make it a side grade, not upgrade.
SB has recently raised prices across most of their line, including the Textreme by about 15%. Just plain arrogance, or just evil. I dunno.
Well, if it really was SB, more people will buy Scan Speak...probably use the excuse of COVID which may or may not be 100% true!??
So far, SB is the only one I'm noticing increases, oldspkrguy. You're fortunate to have snagged two 5" before the increase.
But there is no alternative to SB Textreme in the entire SS line up, those are all soft cones, hard cones from SS are exclusively woofers, not midrange or midwoofers.Well, if it really was SB, more people will buy Scan Speak...

Paper might break up nicer, but it start way earlier.

To me it looks like the paper version of the RS225, start breaking up already at 700hz compared to alu, that start loosing it around 1900hz.
I'd much rather have a more pistonic driver and then dampen the breakup with EQ, than paper. But maybe the Textreme is a nice cocktail from both worlds. I believe that the smoother but clear breakup of paper, earlier in the FR, might be what makes them sound "warmer" to some.
Yes, I am hoping the TexTreme is the best of compromises. I have plenty of drivers larger and smaller; 5 inch would make things simpler for me if it does what I hope it does.
Hifi compass MW19TX-4 frequency response measurement very different from SB. Kind of disappointed about this as the midrange rise on SB graph wd have been very useful Assume hifi compass test is v accurate.
Has anyone else measured this model yet?

Looked so much on the textreme, but cant find a smaller dedicated midrange version - yet. So I bought a Dayton RS125 for my 3 way mains.... now this is smooth for a cheap alu driver:
