AK4499EQ - Best DAC ever

He got so good that his latest graphs on phase noise are the best on the planet. Check his thread. It's all there. His latest clocks compete with devices costing 20.000 usd.

What a waste using these clocks on consumer grade products. JPL/NASA/MIL would certainly be interested (and no, I am not jesting, they really are), in ultra low phase noise clocks, the best of the best, to improve the GPS constellation, deep space telemetry, and missiles precision. They would pay obscene amounts for such "best on the planet" clocks. Even Stratum 1 providers may be interested, although the MTI-270 in special space grade version is currently marginally good enough.

Andrea got rid of the ovens.

Level matched double blind listening comparisons of DACs showed that most of them (expensive or cheap) sounded indistinguishable. There are outliers but not common at all. Those outliers are even less these days.

I didn't think obsession could go this far.
I don't know how many times you wrote the same sentence on several threads, I couldn't count them
"Every level matched double blind listening test I've read about show no audible difference between expensive and cheap contemporary DACs."

But then I read this and understood everything:

Your reply:
"In your own view, perhaps."

The measurement obsession has made you lose sight of the goal of audio: listening to music.
A little musical education would be necessary.

Is there also a self fulfilling prophecy going on in objective minds, one that backfires so to speak?

I mean, when one believes that you can't hear things, is the mind so preoccupied while listening for changes that one actually can't hear things that one without that conviction should be able to?
Really.

I am very glad you dropped any attempts to explain your subjective findings in engineering terms. To me, it is not those sharing their subjective impressions that are annoying (although many could use "IMO" more often than they do) but those attempting to fabricate their own version of physics and attempting to push it down the throats of the innocent.

You are now exactly where you should be from the very beginning, and you won't have me as an opponent there.

Maybe you don't understand how much I care if you are an opponent or not.

But that's okay.
Go ahead with your obsession with measurements while I keep with my obsession with listening to music at its best.
Tha's the only goal for me.

Listening to music vs listening to reproduced music aren't same thing. Perhaps a little education on reproduction would be beneficial to you.

Like i said in another thread, most manufacturers listen to their stuff before production.

Like TV manufacturers watch TV content, etc

Car manufacturers even ride their cars before production, can you believe that?

Nobody here is saying measurements are complementary only.

You are wrong.

JPL / NASA / MIL would not be interested in these oscillators at all.
They look for long term stability while I have not implemented an oven so my oscillators has poor long term stability.
That does not matter in audio.
