The ASR Review was conducted with the two power supplies that were provided to them for review. I agree, it would have been nice to see the potential performance had a better quality power supply been used as comparison with the other two.
ASR are asked to do a lot of reviews so I am sure it is difficult to test all configurations. I am also sure that we have people on DIY Audio who have the appropriate equipment to do similar reviews of these low cost amplifiers.

I am in the process of getting a new SMPS LLC PSU 35V / 8.5A (300W continuous work and 600 peak) assembled with a good AC filter.
This is in order to test my updated Aiyima A04 with this great PSU vs my SMPS brick PSU 35V / 6A. I really want to be fixed and find out if a proper PSU really improves listening. I will let you know.

When the power is turned on / off, a large pop noise is generated.
Recently, this model also incorporates the same pop noise prevention circuit as the A07. However, both models are on the market. Confirmation is required when purchasing.

That pop noise was "BANG" for me.
I gave up using this model and immediately replaced it with AIYIMA A07.
If you buy this model, be sure to check with your dealer for a pop noise prevention circuit.

Wrong ! See my comments in Audiophonics... I bought it and it comes with Anti pop. 😉 The Audiophonics version is safe )
I compared it to my Aiyima A04 Black pcb Tilear 2.1 with great caps, my A04 is far away better !

as said, I bought : it is a safe model but the caps are not the best.
The Connex SMPS300RS is a great PSU and has a low ripple.
If I were you I would get any top end TPA325X module instead. Drmordor or Jlester, you will really ear the difference, trust me )
Or another option if you intend to use your Sub :
This model is more versatile (PBTL/SUB mode) even if you can't updade the OP amps :

When you get the A07, just make the following basic updates :

Hi Toku If the pictures are anything to go by this is the model with the Pop Suppression (small 8 pin chip next to switch).
I have the previous (earlier) version that does not include this chip and has no Pop Suppression. That said, the Pops aren't too bad and I leave it running 24/7 so not a problem - Just don't use the front switch to turn it off !!! Turn off the Power Supply and it shuts down gently !!
Still best to check that they are actually shipping what they show in the picture !!
Personally I would still be inclined to purchase the TPA3251 version (Aiyima A04 or Tilear XZD-1752) unless you really need it to run at above 32 volts !! The Heat Sink is probably too small to run it at any higher power for any length of time !!

If you are planning on using a better, higher current, Power Supply my only concern is whether the existing Power Supply connector then becomes the bottleneck of getting good clean power to the rest of the PCB. Some of the PCB tracks also look quite small.
The better designs have far better Power Supply connectors and use really wide Copper Tracks on the PCB so the current can get to where it is needed.
What SMPS LLC PSU are you planning to use for your tests ? Most of the better Power Supplies already have an EMI filter built in so I did wonder if you needed another one ?

When I assembled my last TPA3255 Amplifier by Drmordor, I noticed that by adding the high frequencies / RMI filter that you see on the picture, the background noise was reduced using my BT Aptx HD connection.
Concerning the Ferrite you can see, take a look at the NewClass D CookBook (page 19) :

I am also aware about the DC connector but I am not worried because I already use a 35V / 6A PSU, and I guess that a 35V / 8.5A would be supported.

Yes I did, I made this one for my 3E Audio module.
Made with 4x 10000 μF 50V Nover audio caps rectifier
2 EVOX film capacitors
Audio Grade Transformer, 300VA
I did not noticed any big difference vs my SMPS PSU
Keep in mind :
AC/DC Rectification. VDC = 1.4 x VAC


There are a number of folks here who can't decide what voltage power supply to get for their tpa3255 modules. You can always get an adjustable one. Here is an example of a 0-48 volt power supply with a current control as well
