"...back aways most were of the opinion they were not to be questioned."
Still some folks around like that, some are even engineers.
Yet you simply question and then stop there, no intellectual curiosity to pursue further.
How do you infer that there is no intellectual curiosity? I haven't been talking much about work I have been doing of recent, if that's what you are getting at.
Young medical doctors would be lost without a staff of experienced nurses.

Yes Hans, You, Vacu and MMBob truly get it!

He simply cannot fathom that he would be guilty of exactly what he rails against.

My wife spent 25 years at a teaching hospital and that was job one. Back then they only trained doctors. The nurses came in with a minimum couple of years on the job after four years of college.
No one said that nurses are not well-trained or should not be respected. Mark decided to incorrectly read into a comment I made on the rejection of science and anti-vaxxer logic and bring up nurses for some reason.

Mark why don't you share some music you love, some special artists or performances rather than clips of reverb tails. You know something to really listen to.

Nurses are well trained and deserve the respect of us all. This does not need to be discussed here any more.
I for one am familiar with male nurses, who would just about tackle a patient and strap them into their bed! But of course they try to avoid that, but sometimes it is needed for the violent physcotic patients!
Now if you want to upset a nurse, leak a bit so they have to change the sheets. I did upset one who was working on Christmas Day, by keeping tripping an alarm. Her replacement just showed me the reset button.
Then there was the one who caught my catheter in her cart as she was wheeling it away!
Hopefully none of you will ever have these kinds of problems.
Moral of the story don't require a hospital stay over Christmas. The folks working are at the bottom of the pecking order and are not happy to be working!

The same goes for eating out, thankfully avoidable. The NHS is largely a 5 day a week service.
Yes, I am glad you will no longer bring it up.
Your message seems to have been unheeded by others, pity.
If that isnt the biggest generalization, how do humans behave? Humans can usually control there behavour and thats what scientific training is for. You can learn to minimize your biasis, ever hear of blind listening?
It is one of the topics where it seems that we always have to start at zero. 😉
Sure, humans are able to learn to control their (or some bias or to a certain degree) biases and the scientific toolbox helps in doing so, but very often there is no systematic approach to learn about proper scientific work in the educational process. Studying philosophy of science is often not mandatory.
As a result, whenever a study is done which examines the quality of published scientific work, it finds that a surprising number contains serious flaws.
Good question, I should have been more clear, as it is meant as "published in peer reviewed journals" and of course - as said in previous discussions on this topic - it depends on the fields.

Respect for nurses does come natural when one has experienced hospitalization.
It takes courage, passion and determination to work as a nurse.
I have the greatest respect for them.

The peers didn't do a very good job then. "Truth" seems largely to be a matter of opinion.
