Help to choose the ultimate midrange driver

Had the chance to try a Crystal clear and Beautiful looking driver.

Now it's in a plastic cup filled with insulation.

I Will try it for a week, it's been plugged in for half an hour and i will spend the evening adjusting the dbx.

The characteristic is not the softest as expected but the detail it provides along with the amt is very pleasent.

If i would choose this driver i would probably use 4 of them.

VISATION TI 100

I spent a lot of time trying to integrate the new driver.

I have a really Hard time to make it sound like i want to.

I need to do a very Hard EQ on it in order to give the sound some weight and warmer character.

Still a Little shouty

Why is this?
The box?

It's very clear and really a great higher midrange as it plays right now.

IF it's the TI 100.. non-linear distortion jumps above 1 kHz. Pressure also increases a bit above 1.4 kHz on an infinite baffle.

Two nasty ridges above 5 kHz that are about 10 db in pressure above the average..

Basically a very good midrange with a steep low-pass near 1.5 kHz.

Still, not what I would call a "warm" driver in sound when eq.ed flat and compared to others eq.ed flat..

Still waiting for accoustic elegance speakers.

Now you adviced me not to cross them over 300hz due to baffle step.

Still a bad idea to cross it higher and just correct the step with EQ?

Maybe it would be a way to give the midrange some weight and warmer character?

If i go for the flexunits maybe i Will experience a thin sound also and start to EQ it like crazy?

One option is of course to make it a four way and add something where this 4" is lacking

I think it's a nice sound in the higher frequencies.

What would be a Good lower midrange?

Something that provides some pressure?
Pa 8" ?
ALU 8"?

Try set the mid and twe in line on the edge for full timing, remove the eq for the mids & flip to 12db LR, rev pol on both mid's in the filter, and then set the levels on the amps when listening. 24 & 48db have som hard "ringing".
Should do the job.

And yes the box may lack some bass.
