The Black Hole......

There is plenty new to work on in audio electronics today, just not for anyone here. You guys are typically 30 years behind, and resist new input. Sorry!

Right like Bybees, cable direction and shatki stones. And dont forget anything quantum. If you suggested anything plausible maybe we wouldnt resist so much. But taking the word of a pompous *** whoose only proof is 30 year old anecdotes and his seventy year old ears, and not even blind, is the real fools errand.

I need time to catch up with these things :)

For new how about this Analog Corner #297: van den Hul The Grail SE+ phono preamplifier & SAEC WE-4700 tonearm | Stereophile.com

van den Hul's The Grail SE+ ($28,900) is a "super deluxe" upgraded version of the $7950 The Grail phono preamp reviewed in the August 2018 Stereophile. (There is also a non-plus SE version, which is $2900 cheaper than the SE+, footnote 1.) Like the original Grail, the SE+ features a current-source moving-coil phono cartridge preamplifier

How you can add $21k onto the same basic circuit is a miracle of marketing. I also smile at the error in the description marked in bold.

You're not really high end unless you use inductors rather than capacitors. Where are the equivalent articles to Bateman, etc. outlining the less than ideal behaviors of inductors? Folklore is the force i.e. the high end has become more hopeless than ever, inductors have more non-idealities, distortion, etc. than capacitors ever could have.

In which case I shall remain proud of my mid-fi efforts :)

Edit: I also get kicks from looking at how $20 worth of bits (or free if you have a good junk box) a focusrite scarlet and a laptop/miniDSP could give you close to state of the art vinyl performance and annoy lots of people at the same time.

Who cares about caps vs inductors for RIAA EQ? Both could work well in principle.
For the record, I have not talked to Geoff Kait in many years perhaps a decade, but I once did defend his 'products' for a few years on 'Audio Asylum' but I am not sure if that was not a mistake. I just could not get enough explanation from him as to why each 'tweak' worked, so I fell away from defending him.
