Yes I was wondering about that because I get white noise on 24bit 44khz audio is that because of non-dc filter? bloody scared the crap out of me and had to restart the dac because it went offline, its ok with windows but with Linux I get white noise full volume. could this be a DC issue?

In what universe can the OS affect the filters? Something's wrong with your Linux setup.
One can create or imagine a recording that has a DC component. This must be seen as a production fault/error - it should not happen. Without a DC filter and if the rest of the system is coupled to DC, your bass driver will attain a fixed outwards or inwards position. If the DC level is high and one haver a powerful amp, the driver will break.
So DC filter or not has nothing to do with white noise. Its probably your source.

If you know that you don't have any recordings with DC, you can use then none DC filter version. Otherwise...

In the obvious lack of any such knowledge a physical dc filter seems essential for those rare dc coupled systems. But which of the two filters is more harmful to the sound?
Right 🙂 got it.In the obvious lack of any such knowledge a physical dc filter seems essential for those rare dc coupled systems.
:-D My blowups where before these filters. I think pre dc filters actually..

I haven't bothered to investigate if there's a difference. I run with filters as a use directly coupled nc400 on the DAC raw outputs.

yep i think linux has got to work more on their audio, but its really weird just the 24bit so its ok im not going back to windows just for that, so its all good

I really don't think it's the good folks of Linux to blame 🙄
