I really didn’t know that the THF-51 came in so many flavors ! I ordered bunch of used ones from China at about 18 bucks a pop. Of the 10, nine tested just fine. They came marked as THF 51, 51S, 51B and 51N. I couldn’t really tell what distinguished each ‘ranking’ as the Vgs dispersion at 1amp seemed pretty random....
They’re really quite good parts but I haven’t got a clue yet how to make a powerful Class A amp out of them.

I heard Nelson talking up 'BIG SITs' on Steve Guttenburgs YouTube channel. Wonder which part he is using. I am assuming one of the newer ones mentioned here.

this is first time someone is saying that SITs from Pras are not good
I know plenty of members here, including Pa, bought from Pras , and all these parts are genuine
there always can be possible mistake or hiccup, and I can bet that nothing of it is done by Pras deliberately

In the past I have purchased some parts from Pras, and they were genuine article.
It takes a lot of talent and equipment to fake a SIT. If I could do that, I would

While anybody here that has purchased something from pras1170 can confirm his stellar reputation, isn’t this case of mixed seller identity. I have seen several other ebay or aliexpress sellers with name starting with pras or prasi and some of them were selling “genuine” THF 51 and 2SK180?

Also Sir, you are a famous DIY leader in the Western world, there would be no seller that too stupid enough to send you fake SIT.
Their marketing strategy is complicated. They won't send fake SIT to westerners, or other active DIYaudio users, so that the pandora's box kept sealed.
Why do I claim so seriously? Because we are talking about the entire ShenZhen industry, and I am perhaps kind of insider (not physically), I know a lot (eg, I even know Pras is "She").
Of course I can prove, though I might get threatens from the "gang".
However, think about it, I don't sell SIT, not a business competitor to her, why would I take risk to say things against others' interest?
For sure, all of you can still get good/genuine parts from there, from Pras, but the truth is, something like "blood diamond". The more you buy, the more victims there would be. They don't just provide/produce genuine parts, and they selectively decide and send genuine parts to world, especially Western world. But, where did the rest fake parts go?

He take a good care about customers and show always positive attitude.
Many Diyers now have tested them with curve tracers and build SIT's amplifiers with success 🙂
We are sharing both good and bad facts here, among them being who is trustworthy seller of toys we need
for big SITs , we established that Pras (China) and Watanabetomoaki (Japan) are honest and pleasurable to have business with, and that all other parts they are selling, besides SITs, are genuine
Generg told me (which I didn't know prior to that), that Pras's operation includes practically and effectively two people - Uncle and Niece; I can't see how that can change anything in important aspects of seller-buyer relation
Anyway, I believe we are not talking about general state of Market regarding honesty - we are talking about measure of trust we have in Pras here; of entire massive selling operation of SITs trade he had here on Diyaudio, I didn't hear for any deliberate bad case...... in fact I didn't hear for any bad case, let alone deliberate
and, btw. Crooks exists everywhere; China is not exception to that, nor is it exclusive in that. I'm finding much more cumbersome to deal with my local Crooks than with Chinese Crooks ..... go figure
