Ground Box, what is inside?

So far I am hearing;
Magnetite, Tourmaline, Quartz - "Milled Sand", Iron ferrite granules or powder. These plus whatever else are used as a strata to "Ground"??!!
And in addition a device used as an electrode. Either a solid copper conductor in a spiral or foil - "Copper, Aluminum or Silver", which "must", be shaped into a "V" shape with horizontal flares outward at the top of each side. "This shape is said to be best!?
Then all is placed into a box. Sealed, with solid, hard- wood, paneled sides "6". The electrode attached by a conductor to an audio connector of your choice, "IEC, RCA, Banana Plug etc.
Anything else?
 
Hi Pano, thanks for taking a listen to the tracks.
This selection is not so indicative of the differences that are more evident in other music, particularly rock.

Also the soundcard itself is treated internally which serves to alter all the recordings and so the cable differences are somewhat diminished.
Rightmark reports essentially zero differences between cables, but on my big system the differences are clear, with ferrite displaying least difference between loopback recordings but still audible.
Pano, suggest a favourite track and I will run the loopbacks and post to dropbox.

Actual objective measurements show nothing but my ears tell me there is something different!

My ears are properly calibrated, so its definitely not in my head..

oh oh oh and i can also treat my soundcard to make cables make no difference at all, because logic!

so yes there is a difference, but you cant hear it in the recordings because of "reasons"

I can 'untreat' the soundcard, I didn't do so for the most recent files posted.
Despite this I am able to reliably distinguish these files.
Nezblu, name a track or send me a link and I will do the loopback recordings with your choice of music.

i want you you to do this, then someone will change the file names, then send them back to you. They will send you 6 files out of the 2 you send, some will be identical, some will be the different, and out of "file1" to "file6" you need to correctly identify the sound file with the earth box that doesn't go to earth because electrons that flow into a box thats insulated but has no other terminal is called a broken wire.
 
That's the ground.....dig a hole, and line it with a suitable material, to keep it rectangular. I went for some cinder block, concrete and steel. Then you make a nice wood cover, say some pine with a hardwood veneer on the top side......now instead of attempting to connect said box to your system, put your system, and yourself INSIDE the ground box. I call mine a basement.
Having once been a Funeral director I have a preference to above ground location for my system .

Having spent the first 62 years of my life in South Florida where any hole deeper than 3 or 4 feet fills with water, above ground was my only option. Here I have nearly 2000 square feet underground to play in.....a welcome change from my 100 square foot work shop / listening room in Florida where big tube amps were unwanted heat sources, even in winter.
 
At least you could get a good ground if you wanted one.

After a lightning hit on my neighbors ham radio antenna trashed more of my stuff than his, so I decided to make a proper ground. I used a 4 cylinder Chrysler engine, less cylinder head, buried well into the water table with some steel rebar welded to it. The steel emerged from the ground near my antenna mast and a large fat ground strap connected the two. A piece of welding cable ran through the wall to the ground bus on my workbench.

Measured ground resistance was under half an ohm. Most of that was probably in the power company's ground I measured against.
 
I think what people are missing here, with regard to contents of the ground box, or the making of a round hole or container by the DIY element, is that round or spherical boxes and cylindrical holes would be strictly for use with vacuum tube gear. Cubic shapes would be only for solid state. The ground box does can not work in any form with hybrid gear.

As for proving whether it works or not, no detector, including the human ear or the most advanced analyzer can do this, because observing the result may or may not change the outcome.

Unfortunately, the only one who could definitively offer a proof is Scrodinger's Cat, who now exists in the same supernumerary dimensions as the effects of said commercially available ground box, although he was there, (and everywhere else) first.

Unfortunately^2, His Catness has passed from the dimensions of our senses into those other ethereal places many years ago (due to old age, not wicked scientists).

Furthermore, as asleep and awake cats are universal dipoles of entanglement in all dimensions, there's no evidence as to whether His Excellency, Cat Scrodinger, is awake to listen/observe the results, or asleep when the files are played.

From the viewpoint of the multiverse, a set of paradigms similar to the Pauli Exclusion Principle further blur the definitions of "asleep" and "awake" for a single cat when the animal exists everywhere in spacetime. Thus, we can not know whether a cognitively accurate observation is made.

The real conclusion here is that there is no reason to believe that the ground box product does anything whatsoever except encourage a movement of work-based value among beings without regard to its contents.
 
My house in Florida was built in 1977, a time when the power company "bonded" the ground for each house to the cast iron water mains. There is also a ground rod at each pole. Miles of buried iron pipe in parallel with thousands of individual ground rods is what Florida (the lightning capital of the US) used to fend off the daily attack of lightning.

My house was also one that used the steel electrical conduit for ground, which was lousy and intermittent. We did however have a metal water pipe from the buried water main to the house that was near the buried engine block. An ordinary ohmmeter can be used to measure the ground resistance, but you need to take the measurement, swap the leads, and measure again. Then take the average of both readings. There is always some residual DC and AC between two "grounds."

Half an ohm will not come close to protecting from a direct lighting strike, it however can be used to divert most of the energy to a safe ground OUTSIDE the house. Note that the power company required a one ohm ground, measured from any new ground to the existing ground system that it was about to be tied into.

Consider that a lightning strike is an arc due to a capacitor being charged until it's breakdown voltage is reached. The Dv/Dt of that initial strike has to be enormous, Gigavolts per microsecond. Inductance is your friend.

The antenna mast itself was bonded with heavy metal from it's base directly to the buried engine block about 2 meters from the house. The discharge is mainly high frequency energy, and due to the skin effect tends to travel on the outside surfaces of what it hits creating huge thermal loads. The fat path to the engine block gets the bulk of that AWAY from the house to reduce the risk of fire.

All cables that went up the mast had a several turn loop about a foot in diameter in them before being connected to the water pipe ground, then they came through the wall into the house. The welding cable from the block to my bench ground also had a larger coil in it, which was a "short" at 60 Hz, but a deterrent for lightning. I learned this trick from a good cable TV installation tech. He showed me pictures where the loop had been vaporized by lightning, but no damage occurred inside the house.

Fortunately my system was never tested by a direct strike. We lived 1/2 mile from the edge of the Everglades swamp, across the street from a set of 768 KV power transmission poles. They got hit at least once a week creating all sorts of random secondary discharges and induced damage. After 37 years in that house I learned how to keep most of it outside the house.

The first lesson, never have two grounds, one on either end of the house. A nearby strike will create a voltage gradient across the ground large enough to deliver a sizable electric shock if standing on the ground in bare feet during a storm (keep your feet close together). It will put enough voltage across a 40 foot long house to blow stuff up.

I did get knocked unconscious once from a lightning strike about 1000 feet away. I was standing on a wet beach tying the 25 foot mast on my sailboat to its trailer when enough electricity was induced into the mast and boat frame to cause me to wake up about 6 feet from the boat wondering how I got there.
