Coronavirus: classes suspended and borders closed
After a meeting with the expert committee, President Alberto Fernández announced the suspension of classes at the primary and secondary levels for 14 days. He also reported that the country's borders will be closed for 15 days. There will be a work license for people over 60 years old and all public shows are suspended. For the moment, he ruled out a generalized quarantine.
I highly recommend doing a cost benefit analysis.
The benefit would be a trip of a lifetime vs. what could end up being the end of a lifetime. Is it worth it? I don't think so.

Biggest rip offs due to the Virus Ryanair
Well we were due to fly from Uk to Seville 16th March just for 5 days.We were advised to insure and did so via Ryanair site.
We heard on the 14th That Spain were turning flights back to the UK and we would probably not be allowed to fly out and certainly would not get back.
Spanish PM has got it.
We then received an email from no other that the CEO Ryanair stating that there would be NO Charge for re booking any flights. Hooray. Even got instructions on how to do it on the Ryanair website.
So went to my bookings and changed the date. ONLY to find it did not work...
Several hours Got nowhere.
It still doesnt work but we decided not to even go to airport as we are both categorized highly vulnerable So when we tried to change the return flight due in 3 days. Guess what? It stated your flight has taken off. So we could not change it.
I rceived an email from Hotel stating that they had "Moved " our reservation to another hotel. GUESS WHAT.. NO RESPONSE TO EMAILS TO THAT HOTEL. THEY TOOK THE MONEY.
EMAIL TO INSURANCE COMPANY Yes Ryanair run it. No payout.
Normally this trick would be considered robbery in this country.
Ironically Ryanair (Irish EU country) are asking our UK government for bailouts.

I think the Spanish got something else on their mind than an angry English tourist who see his holiday cancelled. The virus infections are exploding and the healthcare system is collapsing. Spain is in a state of emergency (the constitutional state of alarm in the nation) and in a total lockdown and under martial law now. All economical activity that is not essential is halted on gouverment order and forced by the army when needed.
That is why they don't respond now. Wait untill the crisis is over and they will respond...
The problem now is: How will residents that are abroad come home with no planes & borders crossed. Some are being expelled from hotels.
Our minister announced they have brought home 400 residents yet, but there are still 2000 abroad, and I don't mean emigrants, but students, businessmen Tourists etc.

If you read my posting carefully YOU SHOULD NOTICE that it addressing Ryanairs disgracefull behavior NOT THE SPANISH GOVERNEMENT ,
Despite the Spanish Govt staement of shutdown BEFORE WE WERE DUE TO GO, They are not implementing it and Ryanair are still flying in and out of Spain.
We made a decision not to fly as the possibilty of not getting back home and making the overall situation worse by having two elderly risky patients in Spain. Neither of us are particularly Angry just sad at Ryanairs short sighted rip off techniques. ie You cannot cancel a flight and then telling you that you can change your flight. When in fact you cannot.
note We tried to rearrange the return home flight, three days in advance. They told us the flight had already taken off..?
We had already written off the Hotel fees. Including food. One hotel states They transferred the booking to second hotlel. Second hotel are not interested.
I will advise if the insurance pay out anything BUT Trying to fill in the claim form which basically states you have to have died* or be in hospital to claim....
OK. *Not sure how to do that.
Every single time I used Ryanair I swore never to do so again. Yeah, on the one hand, it's a case of "you get what you pay for", on the other I found the extreme rudeness, their downright contempt for their customers, their scheming - look up how their raffle system works - just too much to bear. Not surprised at all at this behaviour.
I hope you didn't loose too much money on the tickets. You absolutely made the right decision staying home.

We had to cancel our Morocco, Spain, France trip. transAtlantic cruise was canceled so we had no choice. Only people being a dick about all of this is United Airlines. Telling us we have to use the tickets by July 2020. Like we have a crystal ball so will know where this all stands in July so can re-book.
