I have never had any problems with the CD50/60.
I may be wrong but I think griplets were only used on the early models such as the CD104.

Griplets were certainly employed in the Philips CD104 and the Beogram CDX which was based upon it.I may be wrong but I think griplets were only used on the early models such as the CD104.
With the simplification of digital circuitry, stacked pc boards (and in consequence griplets) would not have been necessary in subsequent models.

@Galu Originally, the 650Hz wobble frequency was so loud I could hear it over the music (I sit close to the machine). I took it apart to replace some caps, and now it won't recognize a disc.
Make sure any disturbed ribbon cables are reseated properly when the unit is reassembled.
