So you continue to torture yourself by staying. 🙄I was hoping to share nice moments with people of good company. You, too, do not meet this definition.
Couldn't that process merely reinforce your confirmation bias?
Well.....no, because I go in with no preconceived notions.
One of the benefits of not knowing what your doing! 😀
And on top of that many of my conclusions favor directions I never would have imagined going towards. DSP being one of my biggest surprises, streaming is another. Speaker cable....Never knew it made a difference until it did.....in fact most all the things i hear and have no clue what’s causing it until I dig, some answers being deeper than others.
Some being rather controversial! 😀

You would think so, but in fact you are going in without knowing you do have preconceived notions. Unfortunately, that’s how our brains are built, it’s a design flaw 😀.
If any, the only preconceived notion I have is that no matter what, I’m going to trust my instincts.....I really can’t help if what I’m picking up wasn’t laid down in one of your text books. Ya need to open up that obviously brilliant mind of yours to possibilities that things might be a little different than you think.....yah,yah, proof. that’s going to have to come from someone more capable than me but in the mean time I’ll just keep searching for answers, maybe even buy some of whatever it is mark and Jakob is selling.....what exactly is that anyways?

After all these pages you've read, you still have to ask what that is...maybe even buy some of whatever it is mark and Jakob is selling.....what exactly is that anyways?

Yah you almost got me with that one but you forget I’m in touch with my unconscious when I’m testing......meditative states and all that.
The bias list is pretty long......and all I see looks like excuses for being wrong. Best way to not be wrong is to make sure your right!
Which bias might that be? 😛
You'll have to ask Mark, he's the one who knows all there is to know about cognitive biases, he's probably invented a few just for himself 😉
Neither of them have ever tried to sell me anything!
Neither to me. But somehow, I don't think I am anywhere close to the target population. That's because I don't trust my instincts

You are really funny today, keep going.
You're funnier though, pure comedy gold😎
Measuring at 1 meter distance with little room interference gives a nice idea how well a LS is designed.
The ESL63 scores splendidly as your and my measurements have shown.
However, you are listening further away at your listening position.
So the question is, what is more important, near field or far field.
Hans
Hmmm. More assumptions.... "you" listen further away. YOU meaning others? I never listen critically to sounds far away. I have said this before, I listen up close and personal. Headphone also. That is to avoid the distortions from the room/acoustics.
However, when I want to relax and sit further away on a sofa, I use speakers which have minimum dispersion to the sides. QUADs have a null on the sides. The JBL M2 is directional over a more narrow horizonal path and has constant power response.
Wide, uncontrolled dispersion drivers are a disaster for far field listening. If you wish to only listen in far field, use more narrow dispersion speaker systems. Keep reflections to a minimum before hitting your ears. Use selective location of side wall and floor absorption at least.

Glad I could entertain you. Anything else I could help you with? Perhaps with the TDA1541, your best DAC since sliced bread?

Hahahaha, priceless. Keep going!

I find it easier to just listen to the music.
Omg. Another one? Seems like he just had one last year.Happy Birthday John Curl 🙂

Ditto.
John
I find it easier to just listen to the music.
At home, I listen background.
For real listening, I go to the Jazz loft. Live.
No frequency, no phase, no ITD or IID, no permeability, permittivity, no PID's or phase margin.
Just.....talent.

Ps Scott, searched the BK website, could not find what you mentioned.
Pps. I was unable to find any reference to stator voltage or current on ESL's, anybody have numbers?
Oh, also..I see gap values of 2.5mm and film thickness in the 5 micron range, but cannot find any information on centering tolerance of the rotor (or diaphragm, if someone really wants to be picky). I'm trying to work out the maximum imbalance the diaphragm will see with mechanical tolerance issues. While I normally work at roughly 15 micron tolerance in my basement, what do ESL manu's keep w/r to diaphragm centering? With a 5000 micron stator to stator, a 50 micron tolerance means the induced voltage at film can vary 1%. With a kv at stator, 10 volts imbalance at film. With 10e+12 ohms per square, 90% of the diaphragm is 10e+11 ohms from the 10 meg resistor. (Assuming a square diaphragm)
So the difference current front to back will be less than 10e-10 amps. 100 picoamps. If stator is shorted to the film 10 % up across the entire diaphram, that is 10 nano amps.
So what is typical stator current to compare 100 picoamps against?
It is always a good idea to question white papers, so many statements are taken as truth without facts presented.

.
Sorry you have to use your imagination. The equations are here constant charge is an unloaded transducer and constant voltage would be with Cload going to infinity.
