6GW8 SE amp

hi...i have been following some of your psosts and and very impressed with your know how on great many thing with tube amps...

Hi mate. If you are talking about the SE 6GW8 amplifier I built many years ago it worked flawlessly. No special requirements needed. Just be careful when you build the power supply regulator and the constant current sources. I have also made this with a 6BM8 tube. Not a problem. Also check your output transformer orientation. They should be at 90 degrees rotated from the power transformer and at a distance if possible.

hi power supply for SE ECL86 amp

Hello Billy

Thanks for your reply!

could you please send me a schematic for power supply for Single ended ECL86 amp. maybe the schematic with layout of the whole amp.? would be thankful if you could!

i dont have have a choke. only the resistors and capacitors are available .

I have attached two power supplies and the main amplifier circuit diagrams. The power supplies do not need chokes as they are regulated and hum free. See how you go if you can build the power supply like these. Voltage requirements is up to you and can be adjusted by the zener string. The BUZ45 can be any fet that has at least 400 to 500 volt rating. A BUZ91 is more available and is to220 size and easier to work with. Must be mounted on heatsink! Then you would readjust the bias on the output tube to suit.

Thank you Billy!
i will look into what all i have to build this.!! i get B+270/ 280vdc after rectification with bridge rectifier. what mods do i need to make in the main amp circuit to suit this voltage??
Any tips on the layout?

PCL86 Piccolo Triode Amplifier

the "Piccolo" PCL86 Amplifier
Integrated 2w/4w single-ended triode or ultralinear amplifier

Good luck!

What is the minimum voltage required for this schematic? I have a 220 to 110 volt trafo. After diode rectification,I will get 160 VDC. can I power it with this voltage. I am new to tube electronics and I am just building a pl504 low voltage amplifier. I have given orders for a 5K/ 8 OHM SE OPT. ( In my country, getting a ready-made SE opt is virtually impossible. I have to interact with a transformer winder and have him specifications and air gap details
to be made)I will be getting those next week, I intend to use this circuit with the 110 volt trafo I have.
Any modifications required? I am okay with a reduction in volume. Eventually I am planning to get a DC DC step up booster board and can use it for the rated B+

Thanks in advance

You will need to build a voltage doubler circuit off your 220:110 transformer and bring the B+ up to around 300v. A doubler is a simple circuit so its not a big problem.
